What does FRESH New London mean to you?

The 144 envelopes challenge is a chance for everyone to be a part of the  movement for food justice in New London. No donation is too small and we only need 144 envelopes filled to raise $10,000. Will you be one of the 144?

Below you will find testimonies from Makeeda, our public health intern, Neymari, a junior staff member and Valerie, a CSA member, on their experiences with FRESH and the importance of the 144 envelopes challenge.

We launched this on #Giving Tuesday and we are already more than 1/3 of the way to our goal!  We will keep this going until the end of the year. Donate today!
What does FRESH New London mean to me?
Makeeda, our health equity and public health intern, is a part of FRESH because she wants “justice across our entire food system, from farmworker to consumer." Do you believe in a just, healthy, sustainable and accessible food system?

Neymari, a junior staff member, joined FRESH because she wanted to give back to her community. Although the youth program didn't look the same this year, Neymari and other junior staff members were still able to meet on zoom to support each other, and work in the garden when possible.

Valerie is a proud member of our FRESH CSA because she cares about “the real and tireless work we do to bring our diverse community together.” This year we were able to expand our CSA from 12 to 35 families in New London!

With the 144 Envelope Challenge, no donation is too small! That's what makes it so great.

Here's how it works:

We have 144 virtual envelopes numbered 1 to 144. If we get $1 from envelope #1, $2 from envelope #2, and so on, when all the envelopes are filled we will have raised a little over $10,000!

Choose the envelope that feels right for you and fill it with that number of dollars.

You can get creative with it too!

Consider asking friends to help you fill your envelope. And you can certainly take more than one envelope: maybe you can spare $40 but the #40 envelope is already taken - don’t settle for #39, instead take #35 and #5.

Don't want to give online? No problem! You can send us a check in the mail or contact us to pick up a cash donation. Or come grab a couple envelopes and bring them back when they are all filled up!

If you loved getting the weekly CSA, appreciate the snackbeds throughout the city, are grateful that the mutual aid food pantry could deliver food to your neighbor, or were helped by FRESH to set up your own backyard garden this year, help us keep it all going for you and your friends and neighbors in 2021. Please choose an envelope and tell your people to choose one too!

Please feel free reach out to us by facebook messenger or info@freshnewlondon.org if you have any questions.

We also have tee shirts, totes, and hats for sale! Shop local for gifts this holiday season, or pick up a little something for yourself!
