The world is moving fast and the world of self-publishing is moving faster. Clarity, focus and knowing WHAT to do will help!  The following information  is designed to give you actionable insights and how-to information that will keep you in touch with today's self-publishing world.

I read  books.   LOTS of them.  On average 250 to 300+ per year.   My secret vices are Billionaire Romances … yeah I know, go ahead and roll your eyes.  My second vice is zombie apocalypse  novels and  then there are all those sexy or frumpish British detectives! (You are required to learn a second version of English to read these.)

For the most part I read non-fiction. Because helping authors promote their self-published books is part of my business, I pretty well read all books about writing and self-publishing.  There are some GREAT books and then there are, to be blunt, books that are pure garbage.

I know that many of you struggle with the business of self-publishing.  A few of you didn't know that YOU actually have to sell your books, because "someone" implied that Amazon did that for you.   For me, there is nothing worse that having to tell my customers the sad truth.

So back to me and my reading habits.   From time to time I discover that I have yellow, pink and blue highlighted almost every page in a book.    THESE yellow, pink, blue books are the ones I recommend.

MY BOTTOM LINE?   If you don't READ books, you shouldn't be writing them.   If you are selling books, you should be BUYING them.


MY NEXT BOTTOM LINE?   There is NO one way. There are many ways to the same end point (selling your books).  Each author has different nuggets to share. Use the nuggets that work for YOU and  keep gathering nuggets until you too can tell others how to do it!

Every day I run into  the damages caused by one of the "self-proclaimed"  self-publishing gurus out there. Many of these "experts"  have either published one or two books. I suspect that  "some" of them have never sold a  book in their lives  …  For example, the gurus who tell you that you can make instant millions by publishing dozens of AI produced coloring books.    HMMMMPH!

On a weekly basis, I have potential Fiverr customers asking me for help with their coloring books …  true to the "fake gurus" promises, they have published two dozen books in a week.  THEN they discover that selling the books is the BIG challenge.  Somehow the gurus failed to mention that.

I LOVE Dale's down to earth advice. It is REAL advise, based on his own successful books.  I also LOVE that he is AS opinionated as I am.  We don't always agree … but I respect everything Dale says.
