Subject: What I learnt from my parents in Kazakhstan

I haven't told you about my heritage before, Friend.

My parents' life choices were different from mine in many ways. But they were the ones who taught me the courage of aspiring more, even if it required to leave everything you had behind.

They showed me that the hope for something greater is bigger than the risk of change.

My family emigrated from Kazakhstan to Germany when I was 5 years old. My parents left to create a better life for me and my sister in Europe.

Life had been hard under the communist regime and we didn’t have a lot, but my dad would take up any opportunity he could to make sure that we had enough to live comfortably.

As soon as my parents got their German visa, they dropped everything they had built up (including our own farm and house) and took us on our first flight ever.

My parents were always more work and less play.

Starting from zero in Germany, they taught us kids that we needed to study hard. Home work would always go first, play dates second. I had been best in class for almost every consecutive year in school and best graduate of the year in university.

The result of this strict upbringing was that subconsciously I grew to belief that having a good life (and bank account) required hard work and sacrifice. (which is something I don't believe anymore!)

You can imagine how skeptical my parents were about our investments.

When Tomer and I bought our first apartment, my parents were very excited for us. When we bought a second apartment as an investment, they got nervous. By the time we bought our third one, they were worried.

Making money in ways that did not involve working hard was new to my parents.

…. but they trusted us because they saw results.

So you know what they said when I told them that we will leave our 6-figure jobs, go traveling and pursue our creative ideas?

They said: “If there’s somebody who can pull this off, then it’s you guys.”

One of my reasons to have financial freedom is to give back to my parents. However, I want to do it in ways my parents never had the opportunity to experience:
  • I want to make an income doing things I am passionate about instead of working for the sake of money.
  • I want to be smart about my money management to make money easily instead of working hard every day.
  • I want to create a lifestyle that puts FREEDOM first and makes work optional.
These 3 things have been Tomer’s and my mission for the past few years, and we want to share our learnings with you.

In the Freedom Lifestyle Challenge, we want to show you that YOU ALREADY HAVE EVERYTHING YOU NEED to create a location independent and work-optional lifestyleOur mission is to help you see yourself in new ways and get you started on the necessary steps.

That's where the daily live trainings will be hosted!
