My first reaction was 🤦🏻

My second thought was:

“Don’t I constantly warn everyone

that a follower count doesn’t really belong to them?”

And then, after offering a solution - which he didn’t like…

I thought, I need to insist more on this.

Your followers on Twitter, on Facebook, on LinkedIn, on YouTube…

It doesn’t matter the platform… Are. Not. Yours.

The platform controls:

→ which of them see your content and when.

→ what you can and cannot post.

→ if you’re even allowed to post.

⚠️ And more importantly, they can erase years of hard work in 1 second! ⚠️

What solution did I offer?

Start over and build an email list.

Well, I recommended exploring other options on top of that...

But the priority, start turning your “followers” into “subscribers”.

Email subscribers.

The people in your email list are your real subscribers.

They have:

→ given you a way to contact them.

→ showed interest in something you offer.

And… No one can take that list from you!

Think about it, it’s just like when someone gives you their phone number.

They found something interesting about you, personally or professionally, and would like to know more.

Most of my clients think that starting an email list is a complicated matter.

1. Think about something that you use every day when working for clients or when creating content.
   

2. Make it shareable. A PDF, a Notion template, an Excel file, etc…

   (It can be as simple as a list of tools)
   

3. Build a free landing page (30 mins).
   

4. Connect the landing page to an email autoresponder (many free tools).
   

5. Create a welcome sequence of 3 emails.
   

6. Share the link to your Landing Page with your followers.
