"I can do things you cannot, you can do things I cannot; together we can do great things." ~ Mother Teresa
We recently had a family of 6 stay with us in our shelter program. The single mother came into Family Promise of Butler County with no employment, physical and emotional pains, and only $4 in her bank account. She was tired and ready to give up.
During her time with us, she learned more about budgeting, qualified for a housing voucher, found a good-paying job, and got back on her feet. Our congregations loved the family well and you could see the mom being transformed and restored. The family graduated two weeks before Christmas and moved into their new home. She left Family Promise of Butler County employed and had over $300 in savings.
But here is where it gets good; not only did she leave with some money in the bank, gainful employment, and a new place, but as providence would have it, a family from one of our congregations reached out to us. This family had a tree, lights, a tree stand, and a skirt to donate. The tree, along with some Crumbl cookies, were brought to the Day Center the very day the family graduated.
It is us working together as a team to create successful homes. We are empowering families. We are bringing forward change that leads to stability. We perform acts of kindness and love that only a team can do. Thank you for being a community partner. Your hearts for those going through a season of homelessness don't go unnoticed. |
