Family Promise of Butler County Awarded Grant for New
"Shelter Diversion Program"
"Shelter diversion helps end homelessness by prioritizing housing-based intervention, preserving community resources for those who need it most, and preventing the stress and trauma of shelter where other options exist."

We have been super busy here at Family Promise Butler County! Below is a press release regarding a new diversion pilot program grant that we were recently awarded. All Family Promise affiliates across the country were invited to submit a proposal. Ultimately, of the 50 affiliates nationwide that applied for the pilot program, Family Promise of Butler County was one of the 10 selected to receive the grant!

At only 3 1/2 years old, we are a newer affiliate, but we have shown strong growth and a determination to serve our community. This grant means we will be able to serve more families outside of bringing them into shelter. We will also be using our data and service methods as a model for future affiliates that want to engage in diversion programming. This is a huge honor and we are super excited to be part of this program!

AND HERE'S WHAT ELSE WE'RE UP TO!
In other news, we are still serving homeless families in our county, even though those services look quite different from our norm. We have been having the families stay in an extended stay hotel and our host congregations are still providing meals. Our Family Service Coordinator, Michelle, is staying in touch via phone on a daily basis and we are still able to do some case management with this model. Families are getting jobs and are able to access stable housing. We are also reaching out to graduated families and are providing them with case management and other needed resources, so that they are able to maintain their stability.

Thanks to all of our donors, partners and volunteers for all that you do!
