Hello Friend,
If you’ve ever packed for a quilting retreat, you know the checklist: machine, cords, foot pedal, fabric, projects, snacks (because priorities).
Well… last weekend, one of our private retreat groups rolled in, ready to sew the weekend away. Everyone was excited, rooms were cozy, coffee was hot, and laughter was already echoing through the retreat center.
Then came the moment.
A pause.
A puzzled look.
And a very quiet, “Um… y’all… I forgot my sewing machine.” 😳
Yes, the lovely lady who coordinated the entire retreat—booked the rooms, organized meals, and reminded everyone else what to bring—had left her own machine sitting safely at home. (Probably still wondering where everyone went!)
The room erupted into laughter, followed by the kind of instant teamwork only quilters understand. Within minutes, I offered to let her use one of our Baby Lock machines. Luckily, her friend hadn't left home yet, so she was able to swing by and pick up the missing machine. By the afternoon, she was piecing away, laughing harder than anyone, and proving once again that creativity—and friendship—don’t depend on equipment.
It’s just another reason we love hosting quilting groups here: even when the plan goes sideways, the memories are perfect.
So if your guild or group is looking for a place to laugh, sew, and relax (machines optional, apparently 😉), we’d love to host your next retreat at Fox Country Quilts.

Until next time—pack your machine, double-check your cords, and keep the laughter ready.
Happy stitching (or cheering!),
Donna
P.S. We’re adding “Sewing Machine” in bold, underlined, and circled on our next packing checklist. Just in case.
