Celebrating creativity, courage, and a little bit of sewing history.

Hi Friend,

As we pause to celebrate the 4th of July, we thought we’d share a little story that’s stitched into American history.

You’ve likely heard of Betsy Ross—the upholsterer and seamstress from Philadelphia who, according to legend, sewed the first American flag in 1776. But did you know she was widowed three times and still kept her business afloat, all while secretly stitching stars and stripes for a brand-new nation?

Now that’s some serious grit.

And if that doesn’t sound like a quilter, I don’t know what does.

She didn’t have rotary cutters or a longarm—but she had courage, creativity, and a deep belief in what that flag represented.

So today, as we fire up our grills and maybe sneak in a little patriotic sewing time, we’re grateful for:

🧵 The freedom to create

💡 The courage to start something new

And the legacy of makers who stitched their hearts into history

Thanks for being part of our Fox Country Quilts family. We’re closed today to celebrate with our loved ones—but we’ll see you tomorrow for some weekend stitching fun!

Red, white, and threaded with love,
