On February 17, 2015, the Friends of the Middle River (FOMR) joined the Friends of the Shenandoah River (FOSR).
FOSR is in its 24th year of monitoring water quality in the Shenandoah River Watershed.
At the center of FOSR's operations is its lab at Shenandoah University in Winchester.  That lab analyzes water samples collected from well over 100 sites throughout the Shenandoah River Watershed.

From Summerdean in Augusta County to Harpers Ferry in West Virginia, volunteer monitors collect water samples every two weeks and transport them to the lab for analysis.

Each individual water sample is analyzed for the following parameters:  Ammonia, Nitrates, Phosphorus, Dissolved Oxygen, pH, Temperature and Turbidity.
Will FOMR change?
FOMR will continue sponsoring and participating in the events we have done in the past:  Benthic Monitoring, Earth Day, Kites & Critters, Bird Watch/Float, Critter Catch, Splash 'n Dash Canoe/Kayak Race, Friends Fest Barbecue Picnic, and Middle River Clean-up Day.

Good News - All donations to FOMR are now tax-deductible!

Stay tuned for new ways to volunteer to help at one of our events in 2015!
