Looking back on 2017, a lot happened at FOMR!
Thanks to our many volunteers, we
 
*  participated in Earth Day Staunton and VCC's  Kites & Kritters.

*  completed our 7th year of Benthic Monitoring.

 *  began our 3rd year of E. coli Monitoring in the Upper Middle River area.

*  brought back our popular Splash 'n Dash Canoe/Kayak Race.

*  held a Middle River Cleanup.

*  had 110 Friends and guests attend our annual Friends Fest Barbecue Picnic.

*  held our 6th annual Kayak Raffle.
New Developments in 2017 included:

*  creating a Film Contest for high school  groups with the topic "A Healthy Middle River - Why Should We Care?"

*  joining the American Canoe Association as a Paddle America Club (PAC).

*  leasing a prime spot in Verona for FOMR paddlers to access Middle River.

*  coordinating and leading two Middle River PAC float trips for FOMR paddlers.
leading a Middle River "Fishing" float trip.

*  volunteers performing maintenance on a newly created riparian buffer in Summerdean.

In 2018, we shall welcome a new Chairman and a new Watershed Administrator.
