Tina - thank you for being a donor in 2019.

With your support and the help of our many volunteers, FOMR had an excellent 2019

In 2019, FOMR:

~ Participated in Earth Day Staunton, VCC's Kites & Critters, and Waynesboro’s Riverfest

~ Completed our 9th year of Benthic Monitoring and began our 5th year of E. coli Monitoring

~ Led 5 Paddle America Club float trips on Middle River and 2 Spontaneous Float Trips

~ Organized 117 volunteers to remove 164 tires and a 30 cubic yard dumpster worth of trash from Middle River

~ Welcomed 100+ guests to our Friends Fest Barbecue Picnic

New programs in 2019:

~ A pilot SaltWatch Monitoring program utilizing 10 monitoring sites over 30 miles of Middle River

~ A survey of 16 miles of uncleaned Middle River for trash with 6 volunteers over 3 days in coordination with StreamSweepers

~ Benthic Monitoring Program began upgrading to a Level 3 program with VA Department of Environmental Quality

~ E. coli monitoring program expanded to include Christians Creek

Goals for 2020 include:

~ Expanding our River Access Program

~ Creating a pet waste educational display

~ Upgrading our website

~ Getting more folks on Middle River!
