Le rôle des aires protégées, de la gestion de la faune et du
développement dans le contexte de la transhumance - La Déclaration de
N'Djamena qui intègre la transhumance, la conservation et la gestion des
ressources naturelles et les questions de sécurité et de développement
par une approche intersectorielle et transfrontalière innovante. Bien

Cette discussion assurera le suivi de la mise en œuvre de la
déclaration de la COMIFAC « Fair Deal » en mettant l'accent sur la
conservation de la biodiversité et les aires protégées en Afrique
centrale. La session plaidera en faveur d'un « Fair Deal » pour la
biodiversité, plaidant pour la conservation de la biodiversité et
l'utilisation durable des forêts du bassin du Congo en échange d'une
part adéquate du financement international de la biodiversité. Les
panélistes de cet événement aborderont les questions clés sur la
conservation de la biodiversité et des aires protégées en Afrique
centrale en relation avec des questions de financement international
afin d'obtenir en faveur d’un Fair Deal…

Cet événement de haut vol réunirait des
ministres et/ou des hauts fonctionnaires dans un dialogue et un panel
de discussion sur le Fair Deal entre les pays du bassin du Congo
(COMIFAC) et la communauté internationale pour la protection de la
biodiversité et des forêts dans le bassin du Congo. Salle 512 E le 15
décembre 2022 à 16h00.

| La préservation et la protection de la fonctionnalité écologique des derniers "poumons verts" de la planète sont cruciales pour atteindre l'objectif climatique de 1,5°C de l'Accord de Paris. Les forêts à haute intégrité jouent un rôle particulièrement crucial pour la régulation de notre climat, la protection de notre biodiversité. Elles fournissent un éventail extraordinaire de services écosystémiques tels que le stockage du carbone, la diversité biologique et la fourniture de produits forestiers non ligneux. Au niveau mondial, on estime que les forêts tropicales à haute intégrité éliminent environ 2,6 Gt de CO2 par an.

This discussion will follow up on the
“N’Djamena Declaration” 2019 with a focus on Nexus - protected Areas,
biodiversity and transhumance in Central Africa. In advocating for an
integrated approach to biodiversity conservation, security, resource
management, peace and development in a context of transhumance and
pastoralism associated with neo-pastoralism, high international demand
for wildlife products and insecurity as well as climate change and the
food crisis huge herds of cattle being driven into the protected areas
of the northern fringes of the Congo Basin rainforest. Panellists at
this event will address key issues on biodiversity conservation and
protected areas in Central Africa in relation to international funding
issues in order to obtain a deal....

December 14, 2022, 15:00-16:30. This discussion will follow up on the
implementation of the COMIFAC Declaration "Fair Deal", dated September
2021 with a focus on biodiversity conservation and protected areas in
Central Africa. The session will make the case for a biodiversity “Fair
Deal”, advocating for biodiversity conservation and sustainable use of
Congo Basin forests in exchange for an adequate share of international
biodiversity financing….

| This High-level event would bring
together Ministers and/or Senior Officials in a dialogue and discussion
panel on the Fair Deal between Congo Basin (COMIFAC) Countries and the
international community for the protection of biodiversity and forests
in the Congo Basin. THEME: Fair Deal at Work - Nature conservation areas
as an example for linking biodiversity and climate: the protected areas
must also be remunerated for their ecological services not only for
biodiversity but also for regional and global climate (carbon storage).
e.g. Salonga National Park is with 1.5 gigatons doted. With the
revenues, local economic development can also be financed. |

The preservation and protection of the
ecological functionality of the remaining “green lungs” of the world is
crucial for meeting the Paris Agreement’s 1.5°C climate target. High
integrity forests1 play a particularly crucial role for the regulation
of our climate, the protection of our biodiversity. They provide an
extraordinary array of ecosystem services such as carbon storage,
biological diversity and the provision of non-timber forest products.
Globally, high integrity tropical forests are estimated to remove around
2.6 Gt CO2 per year.
