25 years ago we promised each other that we’d never borrow money.
The effects of debt were too obvious. “The Jones’” were all to eager to brag about buying their homes and cars. Meanwhile we rented and shared a car.
Debt releases a person from the responsibility of carving out their truest self in order to become an asset to their community. Give fathers in Haiti free rice (a type of currency) and watch it fall, only to be taken over by imperialism.
We swore off debt for entrepreneurship like soap making and lots more. We didn’t fall for the “leverage” lies or the “% cash back.”
From zero point zero dollars we started learning our passions and ourselves to find value. No faking it.
