Time for Love - and Patience to Make it Happen

ValenMeowlentine's Day...
Candy hearts, chocolates (not for kitties!!) and expressions of love - it must be February. Perhaps you heard that cats are solo creatures, and don't form bonds with other kitties? Well...
at FFGW, we beg to differ! You may recall our year-end story about Serafina, a very special cat who ended up having 11 kittens (If you missed our letter, you can read it HERE). Serafina's first two kittens, Citron and Topaz, are what we call "bonded" - they sleep together, groom each other, and according to Britta, their incredibly dedicated foster, "they snuggle together, like all the same
things: chasing each other, chasing toys, chasing treats, and then digging under blankets to find cozy spots! They make a lot of biscuits and purr while kneading. They are always happy. You get the feeling that they are just enjoying life and being best buds!" (Sounds like love to us!)
In the world of rescue, however, being bonded - loving your littermate so much that you would be devastated if separated - is a problem. The hard fact is that many, even most, prospective adopters aren't thinking about adopting a pair of cats, and even absolutely fabulously adorable kittens like Citron and Topaz linger... waiting for the right person to love them. And so, many rescues make the understandable decision to separate bonded pairs of cats, so that they find homes more quickly and space opens for more rescues. It's perfectly reasonable... but at FFGW, we believe in love and matters of the heart - why, it's right in our logo!
And so, we won't split Citron and Topaz, as we know that someone is going to walk through our door and fall in love with a bonded pair of beautiful kitties. (Please help us spread the word about these beautiful boys: Citron & Topaz)
We also appreciate the love between sisters Pepper and Luna, and we won't separate them either! Their foster Shelby tells us that the girls sleep curled up together every night. "They like to get into the toy basket together and create lots of mischief! They’ll throw toys for each other, it’s pretty cute. Luna is always sleeping with her belly up." You take care of the bellies, girls - FFGW has your backs.
Nor would we dream of ruining Meowlentines day for Angel and Leela! These girls came from a high-kill shelter in rural Virginia, and list among their talents purrfesional level snuggling... how could we ever consider breaking them up?!
(Spoiler - we cant, and didn't have to!)
LATE BREAKING UPDATE!
ANGEL & LEELA ADOPTED!
Last but certainly not least - Trista and Twinkle are a beautiful, gentle pair of bonded kitties who are always together. They can be found either chasing each other around the house, window watching the birds, or snuggling up at the foot of their human’s bed. Trista is the braver one, taking initiative to check out a new place or person first before telepathically giving her sister the all-okay. Trista is also a constant companion for her humans. She follows them around the house and chirps up a conversation when the mood strikes.
Meanwhile, Twinkle is quieter around people, but she loudly shows her love for her sister. She often initiates the pair’s playtimes with a challenging stare and a butt wiggle. Twinkle also never misses a chance to spoil Trista with drive-by grooming sessions. The two pour out their love on each other, sleep together almost everyday, and goof around like there’s no tomorrow. We could never rock Twinkle's world by adopting Trista separately.
FFGW is forever grateful for the supporters, volunteers, donors and especially those patient fosters who give us the space and resources to allow us to avoid breaking these kitties' hearts!
Thanks for making their Meowlentines day a happy one!
