Hello,
When you compare egg donation programmes, the list often starts with price, waiting times and donor profiles. There is one more question worth adding early:
will your future child be able to find out who the donor was?
The answer depends on the country. In Portugal, donation has been non-anonymous since a 2018 Constitutional Court ruling, so a donor-conceived adult can ask for the donor's identity from the age of 18.
Our new article, written by Dr Ana Torgal of Ferticentro (Portugal), explains: what "open-ID" means in practice, and what you can see about a donor before you choose, how Portugal's approach differs from Spain's, what information and counselling are available now and later, for intended parents and donors.
It is a personal decision with no single right answer. Reading the article does not commit you to anything.
