Friend,
Kitchen islands are everywhere right now.
If you scroll through home design magazines or watch renovation shows, it can seem like every beautiful kitchen must have a massive island in the center — often with stools lined up so the whole family can sit there.
But what if your kitchen simply isn’t built for that?
Many older homes — farmhouses, Victorians, and cottages — were designed with smaller kitchens meant purely for cooking. Trying to force a large modern island into those spaces often creates awkward layouts, reduces storage, and makes the room harder to use.
In my latest blog article, I explain why the popular oversized island is not always the best solution — and what works much better in many kitchens.
You’ll also read the story of a client who fired me because I refused to approve the kitchen island she wanted… and another client with a similar home who took a different approach and ended up with a kitchen everyone admired.

You may never look at kitchen islands the same way again. |
