What is Talent Search?
Talent Search is a college preparation program funded by the U.S. Department of Education. Talent Search is a supportive program that identifies and assists individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds who have the potential to succeed in higher education. The goal of Talent Search is to increase the number of youth from disadvantaged backgrounds who complete high school and enroll in and complete their postsecondary education. Students who complete the Talent Search program have a higher graduation rate from college when compared to students who do not participate in Talent Search.
Who is eligible to participate? 
  1. Those who are US Citizens
  2. Those who have completed five years of elementary education or is at least 11 years of age but not more than 27 years of age
  3. Those who have enrolled in or have dropped out of any grade from six through 12, or has graduated from secondary school, or
  4. Has undertaken, but is not presently enrolled in, a program of postsecondary education
Frequently Asked Questions
Why must I provide the participant's social security number? The U.S. Department of Education requires that each participant gives a social security number for identification and verification of post-secondary completion.
Why must I provide my taxable income? Each applicant must provide their taxable income for classification purposes as established by the U.S. Department of Education.
What is taxable income? Taxable income is generally described as gross income or adjusted gross income minus any deductions or exemptions allowed in that tax year.
