Subject: Rejoice - The Hornet Story | Legacy Message by Otto Koning

Well-known for his engaging and often humorous stories from the mission field, Mr. Koning relates in this message how the Lord showed him

Dear Families,

Our May Message of the Month is a legacy one with Otto Koning, a former missionary to Papua New Guinea. Well-known for his engaging and often humorous stories from the mission field, Mr. Koning relates in this message how the Lord showed him the importance of rejoicing, even in difficult circumstances. As Otto Koning chose to rejoice, even in tough times such as when he was attacked by a swarm of angry hornets, he gained a deeper understanding of viewing life from God’s perspective.

Otto Koning’s message fits perfectly with our conference theme of “Count It All Joy.” As we deal with the changed Family Conference dates, from happening now this week to our new dates of occurring August 11–15, this message encourages us to rejoice, even when circumstances change or unexpected situations arise. As this Message of the Month reminds us, rejoicing is faith in action! We are commanded to rejoice, and our rejoicing by faith reveals our trust in the Lord as we obey His command.

We hope this timeless message encourages you as you look to the Lord in each season and circumstance! Also, we hope you and your family can join us August 11–15 as we learn more about how to “Count It All Joy”!

In Christ,

The Family Conferences Team

P.S. We are thrilled to announce that we are now offering one of Otto Koning’s most well-known stories, The Pineapple Story, in Spanish! Both the English and Spanish versions are available to view for free on IBLP’s YouTube channel right now.
