It’s Not About Us – Toni M. Babcock

Many of us have heard the good news how Jesus has prepared a place in Heaven for those who put their trust in Him—the emphasis being on the future. But God has good things in store for us today. That’s because Jesus not only prepared a future place for us in Heaven — He prepared a present and active place for Himself the day we received Him into our heart. His goal has always been to rule and reign here and now in a heart now freed to serve Him. This is the prize He won on the cross of Calvary—a gift to His Heavenly Father—because salvation in the end is not just about us going to heaven when we die, it’s about the glorious triumph over sin and evil that is all about God working in us through His Son, Jesus Christ.

Every one of us who carry the presence of Jesus in our hearts, carries within us the presence of His Heavenly character, even if we don’t express it as we should. Even when we yield to the old-self and fail to reflect Jesus – still His character can be activated through faith once more. Having power to access and express His life through faith is His crowning glory. It is what Jesus gave His life for. Surely, we owe Him our all.

When our thoughts are only concerned with what God has promised to do for us in the future, we tend to neglect what direction our lives should be taking today. We tend to compare our life to others and become complacent, instead of comparing our life to our ever-present Jesus, and striving to be like Him. Shall we not surrender our all to Him who sacrificed His all for us? Jesus is with us every day if we’ve believed – always ready to receive us, always ready to restore, renew, and make us more like Him.

TITLE: Living Bread | Writing Challenge
By Arlene Baker

Ach, Mein Gott. Heinrich is gone. What can I do now? I have a baby feed. Alone on the farm. All is lost. All. Hilda’s hands fisted, against her will. Mustn’t in the house of God. But, how, how will we survive?

Hilda had cycled to a larger church many kilometers from her home. Perhaps God would hear her better there. Recognize her plight. She smoothed her worn ankle-length skirt, thankful it did not tear in the spokes – or worse – throw her. How careful she had pushed the pedals, first right, then left, concentrating. A frown crossed her face. Someone had stolen the netting that prevented such accidents.

Candles flickered across saints’ faces. Hilda paused to study each. Could they really understand? She knew the stories of many – stories that inspired her in her own struggles. Circumstances that won them canonization after their deaths.

I have no time to think of the afterlife. She sighed. My problems are here. Now. If only …

She swallowed a sob. Heinrich had been forced into Hitler’s service. His dexterity landed him in Special Forces and the eastern front. She pulled an edge of her babushka over trembling lips. How she had wept and prayed as she watched him disappear on the horizon, back straight and stiff in his nappy uniform. She only wanted her beloved husband home, tending the farm and loving their newborn together.

She rose to leave. After touching the holy water to her lips, she tucked her baby in the bike’s front basket and mounted it for the long journey home. Her breath quickened as she approached the small concentration camp on the outskirts of her small village, filled with political foes of der Fϋhrer.

“Brot, bitte.” The hapless men stretched bony hands toward her as she passed. She swallowed a gasp at their sunken cheeks and pedaled faster. I’m sorry, her heart cried. I cannot help. I would be shot. I must live for my baby. For Heinrich. He will return. I know he will.

She turned into her lane with a mournful sigh. They suffer so, God. We are all suffering. Misery enveloped her like a mist-soaked blanket. She pulled her weary body up the few stone steps into her cottage. I hate this war. I hate… She halted with a shudder.

I cannot even think such thoughts. Too dangerous.

You must forgive all your enemies.

Hilda jumped. Who said that?. She dashed back to the door, threw it open and looked around. Nobody. She shook her head as she pulled an apron from a nearby peg. Time to make bread.

Later, as she kneaded the dough, her motions grew more aggressive. Should be the best bread, as hard as I’m working it. She gathered the dough into a large ball and placed it in a greased bowl, then carried it to a sunny window.

Heinrich. A single tear slid down one cheek. How I wish I could give you this bread. She thought of the hapless prisoners. Late that night while her baby slept, Hilda slipped out thanking God for the moonless night. As she approached the fence, a prisoner lifted a finger to his lips. She nodded before pushing the rolls through the wire, one at a time. When the last had disappeared into the man’s worn coat, she whispered a single word. “Tomorrow.”

Daily, she baked bread rolls, prayed for Heinrich’s safety and fed prisoners. Monthly, she pedaled to the church with her baby.

It is so unfair! Hitler is a beast. She bowed her head low just in case a spy could read her thoughts. He has stolen my husband. For what? To rule the world? Daily, supplies grew scarcer and scarcer. How much longer could she share with those poor prisoners? How long could she feed her baby? Herself? He’s a beast she repeated in her heart.

Everyone knew the dreaded Soviets were coming. Nothing could stop them with their inexhaustible supply of manpower. Hilda began to tremble.

They are brutes. They will kill us all.

You must forgive. That voice again! Anger overcame Hilda’s shock.

I cannot. I will not.

You must.

Impossible. She crossed her arms to hug her body tightly. Suddenly, her eyes traveled to the image of Jesus with bared and pierced heart. Her cheeks reddened.

He died for those who abused him. How could he …

Love, Hilda. For you. For your enemies. All is conquered through pure love. All.

Do You Always Keep a Copy of Your Articles?
We STRONGLY recommend you do this today and occasionally in the future as you add more articles

We appreciated your patience when FaithWriters was down for over two days a few months ago, due to issues with our service provider. The issue we experienced makes this message of even more importance. We do not want you to lose your articles. Therefore, we have been pushing this for over a year and hope you have already taken advantage of it.  You can download a copy of your articles in mass, with one click on the site.

We back up the site regularly but cannot give you a 100% guarantee of there safety. Things happen online as you know. Hackers are a big issue and some out there would like to take a Christian site down. If you log into the site and look in the middle left column of the My Account page under Update and Manage Your Profile/Account, you will see the following link on the website.

Click Here to Download a Copy of Your Articles in Mass

When you are logged into the site, click on that link on the website and a copy of your articles will be downloaded to your computer in a zip file. It will be fairly quick depending on your internet speed and number of articles. Save them to your computer or a thumb drive.
While this should download all of your articles, sometimes a couple are missed for some unknown reason. Therefore, double check the downloaded articles by opening each one on your computer. If an important one is missed, you will need to manually copy it to your records from the site. Then going forward, make sure to keep a copy of each new article you post.

Make sure to do this today to protect your writing. Log in HERE.

God WILL NOT Erase Your Name from the Book of Life, Christian
Michael Edwards

Many present Revelations 3:5 as a warning, in a negative light. You better watch out because your name might be erased. But this verse is some of the best news you will read in the Bible, once you know the truth of how we overcome.

'He who overcomes will thus be clothed in white garments; and I WILL NOT erase his name from the book of life, and I will confess his name before My Father and before His angels. Rev 3:5 NAS (emphasis mine)

The above verse is powerful and in the original Greek language it is even more powerful. The word "not" is also translated never in some Bible translations. In the original Greek, the word used is actually a double negative "οὐ μὴ"and means "never ever" erase his name from the book of life. It literally says "no not" in the Greek here.

Jesus overcame the evil one and the world for us.

"These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world." John 16:33 NAS

How do we overcome the evil one and the world? By the blood of the Lamb and the word of Our Testimony. This is also how you were born again.

"And they overcame him because of the blood of the Lamb and because of the word of their testimony, and they did not love their life even when faced with death. Rev 12:11 NAS

For whatever is born of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith, Who is the one who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God? 1 John 5:4-5 NAS

You are from God, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world. They are from the world; therefore they speak as from the world, and the world listens to them. We are from God; he who knows God listens to us; he who is not from God does not listen to us. By this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error. 1 Joh 4:4-6 NAS

If anyone confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God. 1 John 4:15

Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves the Father also loves the one born of Him. 1 John 5:1

Overcoming the world and the evil one has nothing to do with us or our actions, and everything to do with Jesus who has fully qualified every person who believes in their heart and confesses with their mouth that Jesus is Lord. We have been qualified by God Himself to participate in the inheritance of the saints.

Giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified us to share in the inheritance of the saints in Light. For He rescued us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. Col 1:12-14 NAS

God does not lie.

I am writing to you, little children, because your sins have been forgiven you for His name’s sake. I am writing to you, fathers, because you know Him who has been from the beginning. I am writing to you, young men, because you have overcome the evil one. I have written to you, children, because you know the Father. I have written to you, fathers, because you know Him who has been from the beginning. I have written to you, young men, because you are strong, and the word of God abides in you, and you have overcome the evil one. 1 John 2:12-14 NAS

How do we know for certain which names will be blotted out of the book of life?

May they be blotted out of the book of life. And may they not be recorded with the righteous. Psalm 69:28 NAS

In Psalm 69:28, David is referring to his and God's enemies, non-believers. David prays that their names would be blotted out of the book of life. This reveals that every name starts in the book of life and is not added when we believe. It is blotted out when a person chooses to not believe. Chooses death over life. With the exception of Jesus, the only ones declared righteous before God in the Bible are those who are righteous by faith.

Those who reject the truth will have their names blotted from the book of life.

They reject the testimony of the Holy Spirit that God has given us eternal life in His Son.

If we receive the testimony of men, the testimony of God is greater; for the testimony of God is this, that He has testified concerning His Son. The one who believes in the Son of God has the testimony in himself; the one who does not believe God has made Him a liar, because he has not believed in the testimony that God has given concerning His Son. And the testimony is this, that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life. 1 John 5:10-12 NAS

They deny the truth, the Father and the Son.

I have not written to you because you do not know the truth, but because you do know it, and because no lie is of the truth. Who is the liar but the one who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the antichrist, the one who denies the Father and the Son. Whoever denies the Son does not have the Father; the one who confesses the Son has the Father also. As for you, let that abide in you which you heard from the beginning. If what you heard from the beginning abides in you, you also will abide in the Son and in the Father. 1 John 2 NAS

They deny that Jesus coming in the flesh is from God.

Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God; and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God; this is the spirit of the antichrist, of which you have heard that it is coming, and now it is already in the world. 1 John 4:1-3 NAS

For many deceivers have gone out into the world, refusing to confess the coming of Jesus Christ in the flesh. Any such person is the deceiver and the antichrist. 2 John 1:7

They will not confess Jesus is Lord.

Therefore I inform you that no one who is speaking by the Spirit of God says, "Jesus be cursed," and no one can say, "Jesus is Lord," except by the Holy Spirit. 1 Corinthians 12:3

Stop doubting and believe God’s word, Christian. You believe and are born of God, safe and sound in the book of life. Now go and tell others the good news.

Many New Covenant Bible Studies can be found HERE. Jesus poured out His blood for the New Covenant of grace and truth, replacing the Old Covenant law of Moses. Believers are exclusively under the New Covenant, the last will and testament of Jesus that began after the cross.

And in the same way He took the cup after they had eaten, saying, "This cup which is poured out for you is the new covenant in My blood. Luke 22:20

Healing deep emotional wounds with the love of God.
Marius Kotze
Beloved, let us not be conscious of the devil and his works, but of Jesus, our Commander-in-chief! In the presence of Jesus Christ, everything changes.
Jesus said on the cross, “Father forgive them as they don’t know what they are doing.” The people that crucified Jesus was under the control of the worldly spirits as they were influenced by dark forces.
The cross is the unique symbol of the Christian faith. It is the distinct logo that belongs to Jesus alone. No founder or leader of another religion would dare boast this logo. For it stands for something they have never done!
None of them has been crucified for the sins of the world. None of them has been raised from the dead. None of them can give us the help we so desperately need. Only Jesus can save you. As he said: “I am the way, the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father except by me.” Open your heart for Jesus now. Call on His name. He will save you.

Fishers of Men in Over 230 Countries
Together We Spread the Gospel On the Net

Not all of us can go around the world as missionaries in person, but we can reach the world online. We can even reach many places missionaries cannot go in person. The world needs sites like FaithWriters, prepared Christian authors and as many Christian articles and books that point to Jesus as possible. The web especially needs your Bible studies, apologetic articles, calls to salvation, nonfiction and fiction articles and books leading people to Jesus. Together we attract lost people from all over the world who need Jesus along with believers who need their minds renewed and encouraged. God has given us a great opportunity to reach many people who may have never heard of Jesus. The image above marks the location of our visitors.

Numerous people from around the world have accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior directly through FaithWriters. We contact every person who leaves an email address and provide them with more information. Sometimes we correspond with them several times. We even offer to place them in contact with another believer (FaithWriters member) in their country. Consider how much time people --- especially kids --- spend on the internet these days. Watch this two-minute video from Kimberly on how she found God on the internet

Article Comment Emails Not Getting to Your Gmail?

In the past, some members have had issues receiving notification emails when their Challenge or other articles receive a comment. We just did a test of the system and placed a Gmail test address in my profile. I then posted a comment on one of my articles. I also did this test on a Challenge article for a member who said she was not getting the emails. In both tests, the email notification of the comment did come through to the Gmail address, but in both cases it went to the junk file in Gmail. So, FaithWriters automatic email system is working to Gmail but may be going to your junk.

If you have not been receiving notifications of comments on your articles, post a test comment on one of your own articles and then check the junk tab on your Gmail. Be aware, my junk tab in Gmail showed there were no junk emails until I clicked on it and found the comment notification email from FaithWriters in there.  If you find any emails from FaithWriters in your junk, move them to your inbox and hopefully next time they will not go to junk. Make sure to check your junk on a regular basis and click on the other tabs just to check. Each time move them to your inbox. There is also a tab titled "view all email" that should be checked. Sometimes Gmail divides email up into different tabs, so check all the tabs once in awhile just in case. This is something you should check if you have Hotmail or others too.

Another Great Way to Improve The Critique Circle

Fellow Members Need Your Help.

Providing comments and critiques for fellow members is of great encouragement to them. It is also the perfect way to improve your writing skill.

Tips on Giving Critiques

Critiquing the work of others requires balance. Being too nice will not help your fellow writers develop their work; being too harsh can crush a writer’s ego (particularly new writers, who tend to be shy about sharing their work). How can you achieve the right balance? Here are some tips:

Take care to point out both what works, and what doesn’t. If you’re new to critiquing, a good hint would be to point out one thing you like (a phrase, a description, an idea) for each thing that bothered you.

Whenever possible, be specific when pointing out things that you didn’t like (don’t just say “I didn’t like this part” or “I’d cut that,” say “I didn’t like this part because…” or “I’d cut that because…”).

Try to offer suggestions when you think a change is needed. Suggestions, even to the point of an offered rewording, can be very helpful; even if the suggestion isn’t exactly right for the author to use, he or she may get a good idea from it, or at least a better understanding of the point you are trying to make.

Be honest and direct, but in a polite and caring way. Holding back your feelings about a piece because you’re afraid to share your thoughts isn’t going to help anyone. Just be mindful of how you share your opinions!

We Also Need Your Article to Critique!
Members and paid editors provide the critiques in the circle. You can even submit your judged Challenge entries to the circle.

"I have a few, very few, trusted friends who will edit me with a scowl. Most people want you to feel good so they give you compliments about your writing, and these don’t help at all (except emotionally). Really, you need some grouches to edit your work." Philip Yancey in a FaithWriters interview.

This is a real chance to help others and receive some very constructive and private critiques of your writing.

Increase Sales With an Audio Book
                          or
Make a Nice Income From Home

Recently, I had an email exchange with Dave Walker, a longtime FaithWriters member who grew tremendously in the Writing Challenge. Dave's book, God in the ICU, has done very well with almost 600 Amazon reviews the last time I looked. He was happily surprised to see a significant increase in sales due to the addition of an audio version. You can view Dave's book and listen to a small audio portion HERE. Dave's book was perfect for an audiobook.

Dave did his narration, and for some, that might work out great. But there is an easier way and it is not that expensive. You can learn about it HERE. ACX is an Amazon company, on their site you can place your book up for narrator auditions. You then get offers from narrators who read a sample for you, posting it on ACX. You choose the one you like and make a deal. This is all done online.

I recently had an audiobook done of Gravity on ACX, by a great narrator and believer named R.F. McCoy. You can hear a sample HERE. If you like R.F. McCoy's voice, make sure to request an audition from him. He was professional, diligent and on schedule. You can find his profile on ACX. It costs nothing to request auditions and you will probably get several. I paid Bob $500.00 and keep any profits myself after Amazon's cut. You can also offer to split profits and pay nothing if a narrator agrees.

When your narration is complete and you have paid the bill, your book is automatically loaded for sale on Audible and other outlets. Everything is professional and that's what you want for your audiobook.

Another thought for some readers is to apply to be a narrator. ACX will show you how to do this on their site. If you have a good voice, you could make a nice income from home.
