Sharing Jesus Without Fear

Copy and print this out for use.

The steps to share your faith without fear – no confrontation. Pray and then get them alone.

1. Ask these five questions to help discover their personal spiritual condition.

• Do you have any kind of spiritual belief?
• To you, who is Jesus?
• Do you think there is a heaven and a hell?
• If you died right now, where would you go?
• If what you believe were not true, would you want to know it?

Listen to their answers in a calm and open way. Do not reply to their statements. If their answers are incorrect, you will be asking their permission to share the truth in Christ with the last question. If they say no to the fifth question, you can drop it – no confrontation. But if they want to hear, go to step two and then three.

2. Here are a series of five Bible verses to ask the lost person to read aloud. Let them read them and remain silent. After each verse they read, ask them what it says to them. If they misunderstand, ask them to read it again until they admit the truth in the verse.

• for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, Romans 3:23 ESV

• For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:23 ESV
• Jesus answered him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.” John 3:3 ESV
• Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. John 14:6 ESV
• if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with your heart you believe and are justified, and with your mouth you confess and are saved.… Romans 10:9-10 BSB

3. Then ask them a series of five questions that summarizes the truth of the verses and lead the lost person to the point of decision.

• Are you a sinner?
• Do you want forgiveness for your sins?
• Do you believe Jesus died on the cross for you and rose again?
• Are you willing to surrender yourself to Christ?
• Are you ready to invite Jesus into your heart and into your life?

4. Lead them in the Sinner's Prayer if they are ready to make a decision. Stay in touch and get them discipled or connect them with a local fellowship or small group for future growth.

An Onward and Upward Calling - Jennifer Woodley

“Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:13-14 (KJV)

For some an acknowledgement of faith in Jesus Christ is the beginning and the end of their salvation. But the cry of Paul to the Philippians is that salvation, though an initial act of faith in Jesus and repentance of sins, does not stop there. Salvation is both a one time act and an ongoing act.

Instant Christianity tends to make the initial faith act terminal and thus nullifies the desire for spiritual growth.

The true nature of the Christian life is not static, but dynamic and expanding. The Christian faith is a living organism that requires, just like a baby, nourishment and exercise to ensure healthy development. Our relationship with Jesus is to be a flourishing and exciting. No one time initial act between God and people made in His image, can ever achieve the intimate friendship that our Saviour desires with us.

No, the Christian journey is a call to the long hard work of growing together with Jesus, and like Paul, we must be ready to reach forward and press toward the high calling of knowing God through Jesus Christ. It is a long, slow movement in the one direction, not an invitation to answer a call and then rest in complacency until Jesus returns. Too many of us have an undue occupation with the initial act of believing and that is where it ends.

Previous Challenge Entry (Level 4 – Masters)
Topic: ADAGE (10/05/23)
TITLE: The Scarlet Porcupine | Previous Challenge Entry
By Donna Powers

Some people find it hard to understand why Jessamyn is my best friend, but that’s OK. Other people think she’s weird because of the way she talks, but I’ve gotten used to it. It’s like hearing a new version of a fairy tale. You may think you know the way the fairy tale comes out - but you don’t.

Not with Jessamyn.

The first day I met Jessamyn, it was in the school cafeteria. I’d reached into the pocket where my lunch money was supposed to be - but it wasn’t.

I suddenly remembered I’d changed my jeans at the last minute, before going to school. My lunch money was in those other pants.

So…. yeah. I didn’t have lunch money.

I stepped out of the lunch line and figured I’d just skip lunch for today. It wasn’t the first time it’d happened. I just thought I’d go to the library for a while when I was ambushed by someone who looked like she was wearing a scarlet porcupine on her head.

Yeah, it was red and scraggly. She smiled (three teeth missing, sparkling bright blue eyes) and held out a dollar. “Here,” she said. “I’m Jessamyn. Have some lunch.”

I had no idea who she was and told her so. And, why in the world would she give me a dollar?

I asked her. She answered, “A friend in need is the one you feed.”
“What???”

“It’s a saying. You know… a friend in need… Anyway, you need lunch. I wanna help you out. We’ll be friends.”

“That’s not the saying. And I don’t know you. Why are you doing this?”
“I just wanna be friends. You look nice. I’ve got a dollar. Maybe you’ll help me one day. Anyway, take it and eat lunch.”

I could see there was no malice in those bright blue eyes. So, I took the dollar and ate lunch. I sat next to her that day, and I couldn’t help liking her. She was just pure kindness in a clown wig, and her kindness asked nothing of me - except to be myself.

Her fractured phrase upon meeting me turned out to be one of many. During our first lunch, she regaled me with, “an apple a day keeps the pie full of apples,” “a bird in the hand will eventually fly away,” and “A stitch in time will make a seam.” By the end of our first lunch, I’d concluded that Jessamyn’s little sayings were pretty true - and that she was the friend I hadn’t known I was looking for.

Over the last five years, we’d forged an unbreakable bond. You can imagine what the other kids thought of her - and, by extension, me. But her kindness was infectious. I even found myself repeating some of her phrases. And, for some reason, those phrases gave me joy. They took a formerly sad and shy kid into one who was bubbling over with joy.

To me, Jessamyn wasn’t weird. She was beautiful. As Jessamyn says, “Beauty is in the eye of the one with glasses.”

A few weeks ago, Jessamyn’s Mom took her to church. I told her not to turn into a religious fanatic. She just laughed and said, “It takes one to make two.” But, despite that, her phrases slowly began to be replaced by Bible verses. At least, I guessed they were Bible verses. After all, I’d never been to church.

It seemed a bit strange to have Jessamyn make sense. It almost scared me away. But, at her essence, she was still Jessamyn. Her kindness and joyous nature didn’t change. If anything, it became more intense. So, I wondered…

What had happened to cause Jessamyn to start saying things that made sense? It was as surprising as if Jessamyn’s flyaway hair had been instantly gathered into braids; as if her eyes had turned brown, and her missing teeth had grown back.

None of those things had happened, but Jessamyn was changed. And she was my best friend. So … just as she’d changed me before, perhaps it was time for her to change me again.

“Tell me about Jesus, Jessamyn,” I asked her.

And Jessamyn did. And, for once, Jessamyn made perfect sense.

Please encourage Donna and leave a comment HERE.

“I’d like to thank you for producing the million-dollar tracts. Because of it, I got saved and I gave my life to Jesus Christ 8 years ago. I used to be an atheist and God brought me to my knees through your million-dollar tract. I went from being an atheist to being on staff at a church, and now I evangelize regularly.” Peter G.

The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, and the one who is wise saves lives. Pro 11:30 NIV

But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Matt 6:20 - 21 NIV

Sell your possessions and give to the poor. Provide purses for yourselves that will not wear out, a treasure in heaven that will never fail, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys. Luke 12:33 NIV

You can do this for Jesus!

Please bless us by letting us know if you have gotten involved in any of the options.
Increase Sales With an Audio Book
                          or
Make a Nice Income From Home

Recently, I had an email exchange with Dave Walker, a longtime FaithWriters member who grew tremendously in the Writing Challenge. Dave's book, God in the ICU, has done extremely well with almost 2,700 Amazon reviews the last time I looked. He was happily surprised to see a significant increase in sales due to the addition of an audio version. You can view Dave's book and listen to a small audio portion HERE. Dave's book was perfect for an audiobook.

Dave did his own narration, and for some, that works great. But there is an easier way, and it is not that expensive. You can learn about it HERE. ACX is an Amazon company, on their site you can place your book up for narrator auditions. You then get offers from narrators who read a sample for you, posting it on ACX. You choose the one you like and make a deal. This is all done online.

I recently had an audiobook done of Gravity on ACX, by a great narrator and believer named R.F. McCoy. You can hear a sample HERE. If you like R.F. McCoy's voice, make sure to request an audition from him. He was professional, diligent and on schedule. You can find his profile on ACX. It costs nothing to request auditions and you will probably get several. I paid Bob $500.00 and get to keep any profits for myself after Amazon's cut. You can also offer to split profits and pay nothing if a narrator agrees.

When your narration is complete and you have paid the bill, your book is automatically loaded for sale on Audible and other outlets. Everything is professional and that's what you want for your audiobook.

Another thought for some readers is to apply to be a narrator.
ACX will show you how to do this on their site. If you have a good voice, you could make a nice income from home.

Please let us know if you have signed up for this program.
We would Greatly Appreciate your support through upgrading your membership. We help members improve their writing for Jesus. Many go on to present Jesus to the world through their articles and books. Fishers of Men in Over 230 Countries
Together We Spread the Gospel On the Net

Not all of us can go around the world as missionaries in person, but we can reach the world online. We can even reach many places missionaries cannot go in person. The world needs sites like FaithWriters, prepared Christian authors and as many Christian articles and books that point to Jesus as possible. The web especially needs your Bible studies, apologetic articles, calls to salvation, nonfiction and fiction articles and books leading people to Jesus. Together we attract lost people from all over the world who need Jesus along with believers who need their minds renewed and encouraged. God has given us a great opportunity to reach many people who may have never heard of Jesus. The image above marks the location of our visitors.

Numerous people from around the world have accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior directly through FaithWriters. We contact every person who leaves an email address and provide them with more information. Sometimes we correspond with them several times. We even offer to place them in contact with another believer (FaithWriters member) in their country. Consider how much time people --- especially kids --- spend on the internet these days. Watch this two-minute video from Kimberly on how she found God on the internet

A few unedited emails from people who have accepted Jesus on the site.

1) This first one was from a person who hacked FaithWriters a few years ago. We feared the entire site might be lost. The shutdown of the site stopped and we received this message through our evangelism page. I am certain is was our hacker.

Do This Today!

Do You Always Keep a Copy of Your Articles?
We STRONGLY recommend you do this today and occasionally in the future as you add more articles

We appreciated your patience when FaithWriters was down for over two days a few months ago, due to issues with our service provider. The issue we experienced makes this message of even more importance. We do not want you to lose your articles. Therefore, we have been pushing this for over a year and hope you have already taken advantage of it.  You can download a copy of your articles in mass, with one click on the site. If you post regularly, go back and do this once a month or so to capture your newest submissions.

We back up the site regularly but cannot give you a 100% guarantee of their permanent safety. Things happen online as you know. Hackers are a big issue and some out there would like to take a Christian site down. We have had attacks and issues in the past. Thankfully, we do not keep any of your financial information.

If you log into the site and look in the middle left column of the My Account page under Update and Manage Your Profile/Account, you will see the following link on the website: Click Here to Download a Copy of Your Articles in Mass

When you are logged into the site, click on that link on the website and a copy of your articles will be downloaded to your computer in a zip file. It will be fairly quick depending on your internet speed and number of articles. Save them to your computer or a thumb drive.
While this should download all of your articles, sometimes a couple are missed for some unknown reason. Therefore, double check the downloaded articles by opening each one on your computer. If an important one is missed, you will need to manually copy it to your records from the site. Then going forward, make sure to keep a copy of each new article you post.

KEEP COPIES OF YOUR ARTICLES! Make sure to do this today to protect your writing. Log in HERE.

We can learn and improve our own writing by reading the winners.
While you are there, sow some good seed by leaving a comment.

Noel Mitaxa is an Aussie storyteller. He has syndicated his weekly Good News column in Australian secular newspapers for over twenty years; a syndication that's recently expanded into Australia's armed services and to the USA and the UK.

His insights come from decades of working with people: as an employment counsellor; then as a pastor and a chaplain in industry and sports; and from living up close as a husband, father and grandfather.

Noel loves words: as powerful tools and as playful toys. He has edited a Christian sports magazine, promotional brochures, television testimony spots, children's books and pastoral care books. Most recently he assisted Christian coaches with a soccer manual that links discipleship pointers with game strategies-as a bridge to reaching young sportspeople in the developing world.

Having loved the stimulation of belonging to the FaithWriters family since early 2009, Noel is keen to assist colleagues wanting to reach secular readers with credibility and relevance.

Another Great Way to Improve The Critique Circle

Fellow Members Need Your Help.

Providing comments and critiques for fellow members is of great encouragement to them. It is also the perfect way to improve your writing skill.

Tips on Giving Critiques

Critiquing the work of others requires balance. Being too nice will not help your fellow writers develop their work; being too harsh can crush a writer’s ego (particularly new writers, who tend to be shy about sharing their work). How can you achieve the right balance? Here are some tips:

Take care to point out both what works, and what doesn’t. If you’re new to critiquing, a good hint would be to point out one thing you like (a phrase, a description, an idea) for each thing that bothered you.

Whenever possible, be specific when pointing out things that you didn’t like (don’t just say “I didn’t like this part” or “I’d cut that,” say “I didn’t like this part because…” or “I’d cut that because…”).

Try to offer suggestions when you think a change is needed. Suggestions, even to the point of an offered rewording, can be very helpful; even if the suggestion isn’t exactly right for the author to use, he or she may get a good idea from it, or at least a better understanding of the point you are trying to make.

Be honest and direct, but in a polite and caring way. Holding back your feelings about a piece because you’re afraid to share your thoughts isn’t going to help anyone. Just be mindful of how you share your opinions!

We Also Need Your Article to Critique!
Members and paid editors provide the critiques in the circle. You can even submit your judged Challenge entries to the circle.

"I have a few, very few, trusted friends who will edit me with a scowl. Most people want you to feel good so they give you compliments about your writing, and these don’t help at all (except emotionally). Really, you need some grouches to edit your work." Philip Yancey in a FaithWriters interview.

This is a real chance to help others and receive some very constructive and private critiques of your writing.

We Always Respond to Emails

If you do not receive a timely response to an email, we did not receive your email, or you did not receive our reply. We are constantly battling overwhelming amounts of spam and sometimes emails we should receive end up in our spam by accident.

You should check your spam and make sure that writer-support@faithwriters.com, feedback@faithwriters.com, bea@faithwriters.com and michael@faithwriters.com are on your email providers approved list.

If you have tried more than once and did not receive a reply, click on a contact link at the bottom of most FaithWriters pages and send us a message telling us of the issue. We will try and email you from another email provider.

Article Comment Emails Not Getting to Your Gmail?

In the past, some members have had issues receiving notification emails when their Challenge or other articles receive a comment. We just did a test of the system and placed a Gmail test address in my profile. I then posted a comment on one of my articles. I also did this test on a Challenge article for a member who said she was not getting the emails. In both tests, the email notification of the comment did come through to the Gmail address, but in both cases it went to the junk file in Gmail. So, FaithWriters automatic email system is working to Gmail but may be going to your junk.

If you have not been receiving notifications of comments on your articles, post a test comment on one of your own articles and then check the junk tab on your Gmail. Be aware, my junk tab in Gmail showed there were no junk emails until I clicked on it and found the comment notification email from FaithWriters in there.  If you find any emails from FaithWriters in your junk, move them to your inbox and hopefully next time they will not go to junk. Make sure to check your junk on a regular basis and click on the other tabs just to check. Each time move them to your inbox. There is also a tab titled "view all email" that should be checked. Sometimes Gmail divides email up into different tabs, so check all the tabs once in awhile just in case. This is something you should check if you have Hotmail or others too.
