Found In Him – Toni M. Babcock

“…I have suffered the loss of all things and consider them as dung, so that I may gain Christ and be found in him…” (Philippians 3:8b-9a CSB).

There is no place we should rather be found than ‘in Jesus’. This is the hope of every believer in Christ. The alternative is to be ‘un-found’ — lost in a world plagued with evil and sin. Jesus knew the stakes involved when he stepped onto planet Earth. He once responded to those who chose to not believe His words, “…You are of this world; I am not of this world. Therefore I told you that you will die in your sins, For if you do not believe that I am he, you will die in your sins.’” (John 8:23b-24 CSB).

This was a dire warning. The people he was speaking to were fastidious about keeping the Law and appearing righteous before men. However, the weight that tipped the scale was not due to their goodness or badness, but to their sin of unbelief — the one sin that outweighed them all. Clothed in their own righteousness, they failed to remove the filthy rags of self-reliance (Isaiah 64:6 NKJV) and clothe themselves with the righteousness of Christ.

The good news is, Christ is Risen; and all who believe have been raised with Him, (Colossians 3:1-4 NKJV) (Ephesians 2:4-10 NKJV). As a result, Christ’s resurrection empowers a faith that ‘puts on the Lord Jesus Christ’ forsaking sin to follow Him, (Romans 13:14 NKJV).

The empty tomb reminds us of two spiritual realities; to live ‘in Christ’ through faith, or to die in sin in despair, thus the message to the world is clear. Let no one carry the weight of unbelief to the grave. Christian, proclaim it — “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved…” (Acts 16:31 NKJV). Halleluiah!

We Would Love to Have You Come Back to The Challenge!

Not Your Usual Writing Challenge - New Format Again Next Quarter
Awaken Your Creativity - Fiction and Non-Fiction Entries Encouraged

This next quarter, we’re focusing on Words of Wisdom, where each week we will focus on a verse from Proverbs that we provide for you. As always, each entry can be in any genre and should follow all of the standard Challenge rules. Each entry needs to clearly show the lesson from each Proverb, but you do not have to actually include the verse in the entry. If you do include the verse in your entry, please be sure to note which translation you used. This is a great experiment for your creativity.

To give you a clearer picture of what we will be doing. Here is just an example, it will not be used in the quarterly challenge.
Do not wear yourself out to get rich; be wise enough to restrain yourself. (Proverbs 23:4) If this were the actual topic for the week, you would be given just the reference of Proverbs 23:4. You would look it up in your own Bible and use your writing talent to show the Biblical lesson in your entry.

The new quarter starts on April 6th. If you have not already, go HERE and sign up for the weekly topic notice on the right-hand side of the page. We will then send you a new topic email each Thursday and you can choose to enter or not.

This should be really challenging and hopefully a lot of fun! We truly hope our long-time members who love the Challenge and new members will all join us.

And don't forget, this is the final quarter for an entry to be considered for the 2022 Best of the Best Awards and cash prizes.

Previous Challenge Entry (Level 3 - Advanced)
Topic: Easter (05/30/05)
TITLE: With Him | Previous Challenge Entry
By Melanie Kerr

I never thought
That we would meet
That I would know
Your presence sweet
I never thought
I'd want to be
This close to you
Oh no - not me!

To think I've heard
The words you said
That stir my heart
And turn my head
Absurd to think
You could forgive,
That through your death
I could live

Too late to know
Your healing touch
Bestowed on those
Loved so much
I'll never see
The lame man walk
The leper cured
The dumb man talk

Now I know
But not too late
That love is stronger
Than all my hate
I know for sure
Why I must die
That you must too -
I'm not sure why

Now I see
Your head bowed low
Nails delivered
By a cruel blow
I see the flesh
Rent apart
Arm stretched wide -
To show God's heart?

Now I see
My eyes divine
Your ugly cross
So close to mine
Darkness falls
The earth turns cold
Faith ignites
And makes me bold

"Remember me"
The words are said
Hope that whirled
Inside my head
"When you come
To take your throne
Take me as
Your very own."

No right I have
With nought to give
That in your Kingdom
I should live
Too late for prayers
And worship song
But by your side
I would belong

"I tell the truth,"
I hear you say
"In paradise
You'll be today.
Standing by
My side you'll be
Cleansed, forgiven
Just wait and see."

With love I gaze
Upon Your face
Amazed that I've
Received your grace
What joy is mine
That I with be
With you for all
Eternity

Three Opportunities to Be Bold and Courageous in Christ!
1) Share the Gospel from Your Home - with People Actively Seeking Jesus
2) Pray Together Weekly with Thousands Over Important Topics
3) Write and Post Articles Offering Jesus to The Lost and Encouraging the Saints

1) Have you ever wanted to do more for God, but did not know how to get started or what to do? What if you could share the gospel from home (on the phone or by text) with people who contact you directly and are actively seeking Jesus. (Calls and texts are funneled through a secure platform to your phone. Callers do not get your phone number.) Would you be interested in offering these seekers eternal life and building treasure in heaven for yourself? If you would, watch the video HERE to see what one woman in this program has done from home to lead the lost to Christ. Then go HERE and scroll down to learn more and volunteer.

You can volunteer for as little as one hour per week or more if you like. Free training is provided These calls are from people who are actively seeking Jesus and eternal life. I encourage you to volunteer for this program. I have taken these calls before and just signed up to take them again. You will be greatly blessed.

2) Join Intercessors for America and Pray together with thousands for important topics in the United States and around the world. They have live prayer calls several times a week and groups for the world, the United States and for each state. If you have been called to pray, this is a great organization to join and make a real difference in the spiritual battle. They also partner with Voter Voice in the United States and make it very easy to let your local politicians know your approval of or opposition towards pending legislation. They do all the work for you and you just click a few buttons. Go HERE to learn more and sign up.

3) Write and post articles designed to lead the lost to Christ and to encourage the body of Christ in the faith. Pray and ask the Holy Spirit what to write. Then ask Him to anoint and bless your articles so they get to the right people. Then trust that your prayer has been answered and write and post another one. You never know what the Holy Spirit can do with articles that are in line with God's will. Someday in Heaven, you may be meeting some of those people who came to Christ because of your article.

But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Matt 6:20 - 21 NIV

You can do this for Jesus!

Please bless us by letting us know if you sign up to pray or take calls or texts from those seeking Jesus.
Increase Sales With an Audio Book
                          or
Make a Nice Income From Home

Recently, I had an email exchange with Dave Walker, a longtime FaithWriters member who grew tremendously in the Writing Challenge. Dave's book, God in the ICU, has done very well with almost 600 Amazon reviews the last time I looked. He was happily surprised to see a significant increase in sales due to the addition of an audio version. You can view Dave's book and listen to a small audio portion HERE. Dave's book was perfect for an audiobook.

Dave did his narration, and for some, that might work out great. But there is an easier way and it is not that expensive. You can learn about it HERE. ACX is an Amazon company, on their site you can place your book up for narrator auditions. You then get offers from narrators who read a sample for you, posting it on ACX. You choose the one you like and make a deal. This is all done online.

I recently had an audiobook done of Gravity on ACX, by a great narrator and believer named R.F. McCoy. You can hear a sample HERE. If you like R.F. McCoy's voice, make sure to request an audition from him. He was professional, diligent and on schedule. You can find his profile on ACX. It costs nothing to request auditions and you will probably get several. I paid Bob $500.00 and keep any profits myself after Amazon's cut. You can also offer to split profits and pay nothing if a narrator agrees.

When your narration is complete and you have paid the bill, your book is automatically loaded for sale on Audible and other outlets. Everything is professional and that's what you want for your audiobook.

Another thought for some readers is to apply to be a narrator. ACX will show you how to do this on their site. If you have a good voice, you could make a nice income from home.

Please let us know if you have signed up for this program.

Fishers of Men in Over 230 Countries
Together We Spread the Gospel On the Net

Not all of us can go around the world as missionaries in person, but we can reach the world online. We can even reach many places missionaries cannot go in person. The world needs sites like FaithWriters, prepared Christian authors and as many Christian articles and books that point to Jesus as possible. The web especially needs your Bible studies, apologetic articles, calls to salvation, nonfiction and fiction articles and books leading people to Jesus. Together we attract lost people from all over the world who need Jesus along with believers who need their minds renewed and encouraged. God has given us a great opportunity to reach many people who may have never heard of Jesus. The image above marks the location of our visitors.

Numerous people from around the world have accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior directly through FaithWriters. We contact every person who leaves an email address and provide them with more information. Sometimes we correspond with them several times. We even offer to place them in contact with another believer (FaithWriters member) in their country. Consider how much time people --- especially kids --- spend on the internet these days. Watch this two-minute video from Kimberly on how she found God on the internet

A few unedited emails from people who have accepted Jesus on the site.

1) This first one was from a person who hacked FaithWriters a few years ago. We feared the entire site might be lost. We prayed for our hackers and posted articles letting them know that their salvation was more important than the website. The shutdown of the site stopped and we received this message through our evangelism page. I am certain is was our hacker.

Do This Today!

Do You Always Keep a Copy of Your Articles?
We STRONGLY recommend you do this today and occasionally in the future as you add more articles

We appreciated your patience when FaithWriters was down for over two days a few months ago, due to issues with our service provider. The issue we experienced makes this message of even more importance. We do not want you to lose your articles. Therefore, we have been pushing this for over a year and hope you have already taken advantage of it.  You can download a copy of your articles in mass, with one click on the site. If you post regularly, go back and do this once a month or so to capture your newest submissions.

We back up the site regularly but cannot give you a 100% guarantee of there permanent safety. Things happen online as you know. Hackers are a big issue and some out there would like to take a Christian site down. We have had attacks and issues in the past. Thankfully, we do not keep any of your financial information.

If you log into the site and look in the middle left column of the My Account page under Update and Manage Your Profile/Account, you will see the following link on the website.

Click Here to Download a Copy of Your Articles in Mass

When you are logged into the site, click on that link on the website and a copy of your articles will be downloaded to your computer in a zip file. It will be fairly quick depending on your internet speed and number of articles. Save them to your computer or a thumb drive.
While this should download all of your articles, sometimes a couple are missed for some unknown reason. Therefore, double check the downloaded articles by opening each one on your computer. If an important one is missed, you will need to manually copy it to your records from the site. Then going forward, make sure to keep a copy of each new article you post.

KEEP COPIES OF YOUR ARTICLES!!! Make sure to do this today to protect your writing. Log in HERE.

We can learn and improve our own writing by reading the winners.

Do You Know the Spirit of All of God's Laws?
by Michael Edwards

If you love the Ten Commandments and want to keep the law to please God out of a sincere heart, this is a must-read for you.

If we do not know the Spirit of God’s laws, we cannot serve our Lord as He desires and we risk ignorantly violating His desire on a regular basis even when we keep the letter of the law to please Him.

Every law has behind it a reason, the intent, the purpose that the author had for writing the law. In other words, there must be a reason to write the law in the first place. The purpose, intent, and reason the letter of the law was written is called the spirit of the law. It is undeniable that the authors original intent behind the law, the spirit of the law, is the only thing that can truly fulfill the law, truly honor the lawgiver. If we can discover the Spirit of God’s law’s, we can truly honor God’s original intent and purpose. On the other hand, if we remain ignorant to His original intent, we risk violating His intent just like the most sincere law keepers who ever lived did, over and over again. The best law keepers who ever lived were the Pharisee’s. While they could not keep the letter perfectly, kept their sins in the dark as we all do, and were judgmental, most were very sincere about wanting to please God by keeping the letter of the law. The problem was that they were ignorant to God’s original reason, the intent for writing the law. They were totally blind to the Spirit of God’s law. This left them unable to fulfill God’s purpose for writing the law, often doing just the opposite of the God’s intent as they enforced the letter of the law. Their focus on the letter and total ignorance of the Spirit of the law is what led Jesus to be broken hearted over their hardness of heart and angry with them on several occasions. They had used the letter to lead His flock in the opposite direction God wanted them to go.

The good news is that the Bible is extremely clear as to God’s original purpose, intent, the reason for giving us the letter of the law. The Spirit behind the letter.

The following verses and others make it crystal clear that the Spirit of all of Gods laws is love. It is undeniable that the only thing that can fulfill the whole law, God’s purpose behind His written law is “love.”

“For the whole law is fulfilled in one word: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself’” (Gal 5:14).

“Owe no one anything, except to love each other, for the one who loves another has fulfilled the law. For the commandments, “You shall not commit adultery, You shall not murder, You shall not steal, You shall not covet,” and any other commandment, are summed up in this word: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” Love does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfilling of the law” (Rom 13:8-10).

There is no denying the truth these verses hold. It cannot be ignored if one truly wants to serve the King of kings. Love is the Spirit, the only thing that fulfills all of God’s laws.

As we approach the consummation of the age, there seems to be a great interest in the timing of the end of the world. Nostradamus prophecies included a prediction that the world will end in 2016. Nostradamus (1503 to 1566) also predicts that strange planetary positions and other astronomical change

Another Great Way to Improve The Critique Circle

Fellow Members Need Your Help.

Providing comments and critiques for fellow members is of great encouragement to them. It is also the perfect way to improve your writing skill.

Tips on Giving Critiques

Critiquing the work of others requires balance. Being too nice will not help your fellow writers develop their work; being too harsh can crush a writer’s ego (particularly new writers, who tend to be shy about sharing their work). How can you achieve the right balance? Here are some tips:

Take care to point out both what works, and what doesn’t. If you’re new to critiquing, a good hint would be to point out one thing you like (a phrase, a description, an idea) for each thing that bothered you.

Whenever possible, be specific when pointing out things that you didn’t like (don’t just say “I didn’t like this part” or “I’d cut that,” say “I didn’t like this part because…” or “I’d cut that because…”).

Try to offer suggestions when you think a change is needed. Suggestions, even to the point of an offered rewording, can be very helpful; even if the suggestion isn’t exactly right for the author to use, he or she may get a good idea from it, or at least a better understanding of the point you are trying to make.

Be honest and direct, but in a polite and caring way. Holding back your feelings about a piece because you’re afraid to share your thoughts isn’t going to help anyone. Just be mindful of how you share your opinions!

We Also Need Your Article to Critique!
Members and paid editors provide the critiques in the circle. You can even submit your judged Challenge entries to the circle.

"I have a few, very few, trusted friends who will edit me with a scowl. Most people want you to feel good so they give you compliments about your writing, and these don’t help at all (except emotionally). Really, you need some grouches to edit your work." Philip Yancey in a FaithWriters interview.

This is a real chance to help others and receive some very constructive and private critiques of your writing.

We Always Respond to Emails

If you do not receive a timely response to an email, we did not receive your email, or you did not receive our reply. We are constantly battling overwhelming amounts of spam and sometimes emails we should receive end up in our spam by accident.

You should check your spam and make sure that writer-support@faithwriters.com, feedback@faithwriters.com, bea@faithwriters.com and michael@faithwriters.com are on your email providers approved list.

If you have tried more than once and did not receive a reply, click on a contact link at the bottom of most FaithWriters pages and send us a message telling us of the issue. We will try and email you from another email provider.

Article Comment Emails Not Getting to Your Gmail?

In the past, some members have had issues receiving notification emails when their Challenge or other articles receive a comment. We just did a test of the system and placed a Gmail test address in my profile. I then posted a comment on one of my articles. I also did this test on a Challenge article for a member who said she was not getting the emails. In both tests, the email notification of the comment did come through to the Gmail address, but in both cases it went to the junk file in Gmail. So, FaithWriters automatic email system is working to Gmail but may be going to your junk.

If you have not been receiving notifications of comments on your articles, post a test comment on one of your own articles and then check the junk tab on your Gmail. Be aware, my junk tab in Gmail showed there were no junk emails until I clicked on it and found the comment notification email from FaithWriters in there.  If you find any emails from FaithWriters in your junk, move them to your inbox and hopefully next time they will not go to junk. Make sure to check your junk on a regular basis and click on the other tabs just to check. Each time move them to your inbox. There is also a tab titled "view all email" that should be checked. Sometimes Gmail divides email up into different tabs, so check all the tabs once in awhile just in case. This is something you should check if you have Hotmail or others too.
