As we begin December and the season of giving, we recognize the vital role that gifts to The Bridge make in the lives of the more than 2,700 men and women who come to us for services each year. Your contributions are critical to our ability to provide many of the programs so important to Bridge clients, including the urban farm and horticulture program, the creative arts therapy programs, outings, and holiday celebrations.

Here is a brief story of one client’s journey with The Bridge. As you read, please consider making a gift to positively impact the lives of our clients like her.

Christina came to The Bridge four years ago and quickly became one of the most active residents. She participates in many Bridge programs with a positive spirit and dedication admired by clients and staff alike. An enthusiastic participant in the horticulture workshops, she enjoys helping to plant and care for the building’s urban farm through the growing season.

Christina appreciates the emphasis placed by The Bridge on teaching clients in her residence the skills they will need to move on to more independent living options. Like other clients in her residence, she lives in a studio apartment where she can cook and have her own space. She is happy to be learning new skills, and looks to a future in which she will be able to move out of Bridge housing and live on her own.

Christina is rightfully proud of her successes, and appreciates The Bridge’s support and programs that helped her achieve these milestones. She is working on completing her GED, pushing through to conquer even the toughest material. Her determination and hard work inspire others and lay the groundwork for a more independent life ahead.
