Dear Members, We have some very important announcements to make in changes to our
schedule of event this year.
Instead, and because we realise that international cooperation and connection is more
important than ever, we want to ensure we provide this opportunity to
bring members together, albeit virtually!
Therefore, EUROPARC CONFERENCE 2020, will be an innovative 2 day
ONLINE event on 8th AND 9th September. Titled - Our New Future: How Ready Are We?
We will be exploring, what skills and capacities protected areas
need, to implement the 2030 biodiversity strategy, in the post COVID
world. We will bring you an interactive online experience, to connect with
colleagues from across Europe and bring you the best of EUROPARC
networking, in these challenging times. DETAILS and registration will be available at the end of JUNE so
SAVE THE DATE. As German legislation was introduced to allow online General Assemblies
to take place, we have decided to continue with the General Assembly scheduled
for the 27th October, but that too will be ONLINE. Further
details of that will come. It does however mean that the current election for president and council
member will NOT take place this year, but will be postponed until 2021, again
permitted in the emergency legislation. Thankfully the President and
council are willing to stay on for another year Although the awards for the Alfred Toepfer Scholarships have already
been made (they are for 2021) we will agree with the Alfred Toepfer Stiftung
how and when these awards can be received by the successful applicants. Further the Alfred Toepfer Medal will also be postponed until 2021,
giving you lots of time to consider suitable applicants! Disruptive these changes may be, we are committed to ensuring we provide
members with the best quality services, connections and networking available.
Our webinar and online workshop programmes will continue (with a short summer
recess) and we are sure we can offer you a innovative, interactive, online
conference. We hope you will support this endeavour.
