Subject: Request for volunteers

QSO Today with Eric Guth, 4Z1UG

Dear Friend,

I am reaching out to you because you are a listener to the QSO Today Podcast and subscribe to my email list. I apologize if you have already received this request for help. Please forgive me.

The next QSO Today Virtual Ham Expo will open next, on August 14th at 0100 UTC.  The presentations will start on March 14th at 1500 UTC.  We will have 8 simultaneous tracks running each hour as we have 93 presentations.  There will be a break between 1800 and 2000 UTC on Saturday to allow attendees and speakers to meet in the lounges and exhibit hall. The Presentation Schedule is now posted.

Unlike March, all of the ham radio presentations are pre-loaded to start on time, automatically on the vFairs platform that we used last August.   Almost all of the presentations will have live Q&A using Zoom Webinar to take questions from the audience after the pre-recorded presentation has played in its assigned time.  This operation is the most expensive and complex in the whole of the Expo. We take the recorded Q&A and add it to the pre-recorded presentations to have a full "package" for replay later during the 30 day on demand period, and to add to the Expo library of presentations.

I need hosts that log into Zoom Webinar with a pre-assigned link, open the Zoom Webinar room for the Q&A, read the questions on camera to the presenter and co-presenters, also on camera.  The presenters with then answer the questions until they run out. This task might take 10 to 20 minutes per session each hour.

Would you be willing to moderate one or more of the sessions on Saturday or Sunday to make these presentations a success?

If yes - Please use this form:  Expo Presentation Moderator Signup Form  to sign up.

Once you sign up,  we will assign you to presentations using the same EventRebels software that we are using to manage the 93 presentations.  You will be sent detailed instructions that include the Presentation name, presenters, co-presenters, time and the link to get into the Zoom Webinar room.

On the day of the Expo, you just need to click on the link, log into Zoom Webinar, check that your camera and audio are configured properly, and enter the room.  It should be very simple.  The room closes when you exit.  You do not need to be on the vFairs platform to enter and use the Zoom Webinar room. Keep in mind that you will need a Zoom compatible computer and browser on a broadband Internet connection.

As a show of gratitude,  I asked Jeff Murray K1NSS, to make a special volunteer certificate for this next Expo that I will send to you after the Expo, and I will also refund your ticket price to you if you agree to be a moderator.

My thanks in advance.

73,

Eric
