Subject: QSO Today: High Desert Radio Museum

QSO Today Message
Dear Friend,

My QSO Today is with Dennis Kidder, W6DQ, who does just about everything in amateur radio from his QTH in the high desert town of Inyokern, California.  Dennis is building a 1500 square foot building to house his collection of working pre-WW2 to present radios.  A recent earthquake, common to the West Coast of the USA, has delayed the project that will hopefully be back on track soon.  I look forward to visiting Dennis the next time I travel from LA to Mammoth Lakes or on to Lake Tahoe.

Dennis likes everything from working 80 meter AM on a re-tasked AM broadcast transmitter to operating SSB on 10 GHz microwave, point to point, with the San Bernardino Microwave Society.  In my mind, this makes him an amateur radio renaissance man.  I know that you will enjoy this QSO with Dennis.

It takes about 10 hours to produce an hour of the QSO Today podcast every week.  A big part of this project is to edit each audio episode, and I have done this every Friday for the past five years. I am a big podcast listener and one of my favorite non-ham radio podcast networks is The Land of Israel Network. It is well done and when someone asked me to consult with them on how to make a podcast, I pointed at this network as having the best "work flow" for the podcast host.

One of the things that makes The Land of Israel Network work great is their audio guru, Ben Bresky.  I asked Ben if he would edit my audio every week, and he agreed.  So beginning with episode 268, Ben is making me and my guests sound great and making the fixes to make an hour episode of QSO Today.  I want to welcome Ben to QSO Today.

With this new found time, I hope to get my amateur station going and start to complete the many projects that I have delayed for years while bringing you the QSO Today Podcast.  What could be better, QSO Today and ham radio?

Thanks for listening.

73, Eric 4Z1UG
