Subject: QSO Today Ham Expo Survey Explanation

Dear Friend,

Yesterday I sent an email to over 25,000 hams (and non-hams) who registered
for the QSO Today Virtual Ham Expo last August. Of those who registered,
only 16,000, actually attended from August 8th to September 9th.

Our next event is March 13th and 14th, 2021.

I sent a detailed survey with open questions in August to the 14,000 who
actually came to the event on the event weekend. If you came later, I am
sorry that I did not send the survey to you.

Here is the purpose of this survey:

I want to know WHO registered and WHO came, by Age, License Class, Years of
Experience, and if your coming to the Expo was instead of going to a live
convention or hamfest. In other words, is there a place for the QSO Today
Virtual Ham Expo when we all come back from social distancing and the
pandemic is over?

I also received comments about the Expo presentations being: “too
basic”, “too advanced”, “not based in technical reality”. By knowing my
audience in a broad stroke, we can weight the presentations to mostly fit
the audience. Next time we will be more international and have over 100
presentations, from around the World -- that's the goal.

If your license class does not exactly fit my survey question, keep in mind
that this message is also going to over 80 countries, where hams were
registered. If you are one of those, try to match as best that you can if
the license class is not exactly right.

I apologize to everyone who is upset at receiving emails from me and from
the exhibitors. I want to remind you that the event was free, cost as much
as a convention center to put on, and that the option to “OPT OUT” was
present from the very beginning, at registration. Your willingness to take
our emails was how we paid for this event. If you do not want to hear from
me again, please use the unsubscribe link at the bottom of this message.

Thanks for being a “good sport” and completing this two minute survey.
We are using SurveyMonkey, a service that we pay for, to consolidate the
reports from thousands of replies. Our last survey had over 3000
responses. We appreciate it greatly and thank you in advance for
completing it

Finally, The QSO Today Virtual Ham Expo, was born out of my six years and
over 300 interviews with hams to hear and share their ham radio stories. I
love ham radio and love to share. The QSO Today Virtual Ham Expo was my
way to show how much I care about our community, especially in these
difficult times drawing on the resources and amazing hams who have shared
their stories with me. If you are new to amateur radio, the best way to
learn it, is to hear the “language of amateur radio” expressed in the
conversations that I have in the podcast. As this language becomes
familiar to you, so too will it be easier to understand the technical,
Google a term, and put it into context. All of my guests are nice people,
who care about amateur radio, and want to help you become successful. You
are invited to listen to the QSO Today Podcast at www.qsotoday.com.

I hope to see you in March 2021 for the next QSO Today Virtual Ham Expo!

73,

Eric Guth, 4Z1UG

PS - all of the presentations from the first Expo are still at the QSO Today
Virtual Ham Expo website at https://qsotodayhamexpo.com
