Subject: QSO Today: Electric Radio

QSO Today Message
Dear Friend,

Just after I posted the QSO with Janis Carson, AB2RA, I received my February copy of Electric Radio Magazine, published in Colorado by Ray Osterwald, N0DMS.

On page 2 was another contribution by Janis, The Johnson Viking III, Part 3, Modulator and Power Stage Improvements. Five pages of smart advice and hand-drawn schematics and comments for anyone who wants to improve their Viking III.  While I don't own a Viking III, it was an interesting read.

It's a coincidence that Janis's QSO Today interview was published at the same time as the Electric Radio article, yet her contributions are frequent and valuable.  I received great feedback on the episode.

Back to Electric Radio Magazine.  I enjoy all of the ham radio magazines that I get each month for different reasons. I am not a collector of the old gear, but I remember that I was attracted to ham radio by pictures of ham shacks with all of these old radios stacked on an oak desk.  So reading the magazine takes me back to those days.  The magazine not only has technical contributions by hams, like Janis, but also articles of historic importance.  Therefore, you may find that Electric Radio magazine might be a good monthly ham radio read for you.  Here is a link for more information: https://www.ermag.com/

My QSO Today is with Glen Jenkins, WB4KTF, who it turns out, came to Israel after college in the 70s to become a control systems engineer in Arad,  a small "development town" near the Dead Sea.  While he did not stay in Israel, his career allowed him to travel the World, spend some time in Moscow, before landing in Texas.

We are still and will be advertising the ham radio tour of Israel, in May of 2021,  for as long as it takes to fill up the buses.  If you think that you would like to tour Israel with amateur radio operators, then please sign up by clicking on the banner below.  I will be actively involved in putting together evening programming along the way to make it an especially interesting trip.

Thanks for listening.
