How is it helpful to make it illegal for minors to get help with an issue that is cutting through their souls?
That’s what one counselor would like to know.

Christopher Doyle, a licensed professional counselor and a leader in the #TherapyEquality campaign of Equality And Justice For All, has long advocated for therapy freedom and therapy equality, especially as activists fight harder to ban therapies for minors that help them deal with unwanted same-sex attractions and gender identity confusion.

Doyle, who left the homosexual lifestyle and is now married to his wife and a father of five, says that activist moves like this will not only limit the rights of minors and families, but simply ignore problems rather than addressing them head-on.

“When it comes to sexual identity affirming therapy, our clients believe there are specific causes for their unwanted same-sex attractions and gender identity confusion,” Doyle adds. “We help them resolve those issues, affirm their sexual identity, and work with them to achieve their goals. Everyone has the right to resolve unwanted desires, attractions and unmet emotional needs. And if someone wishes to pursue therapy to resolve unwanted attractions, who are we to stop them and deny their right of self-determination?"

In the News...
Lawmakers in Ohio are fighting to ban conversion therapy for minors. If legislation passes, Ohio will be one of the first states to outlaw therapy for minors with same-sex attraction.

WBNS-TV, the CBS station in Columbus, Ohio, covered this story on the 5:00 p.m. news on Wednesday, November 18, and included a quote from Christopher Doyle in its story. Unlike the main person highlighted in the article, Doyle believes that everyone has the right to go to therapy if that is what they want to do. And he is living proof that change is possible.

Doyle was also featured in the news on October 29, when he appeared on the show "Focal Point" on American Family Radio. Guest host Janet Mefferd talked to Doyle about his new research project - the first study of youth who have undergone sexual orientation change efforts (SOCE). Doyle's research combats the federal report, released last month, that seeks to end conversion therapy. You can listen to the "Focal Point" program here
