Hi EnrichHER Community,

It seems like time never slows down. Last week I spent most of my time in Oklahoma City. My mother dedicated the previous 17 years to being a caregiver to my grandmother, a promise she made long ago. My grandmother passed away at 97 in her home. Oklahoma reminds me of my childhood as I used to spend summers there with my cousins. I was always amazed that my mom grew up on a farm and a simple gesture like a whistle can make a herd of cattle run. As I reconnected with family last week, the phone calls, text messages, and emails didn't stop, though I ignored the overwhelming majority. Most communications were about urgent requests with a 24-48 hour turn around time. I told many of the people that I was at a funeral or dealing with the loss of a family member, and they mostly responded by asking me whatever they were going to ask in the first place. There were many deadlines that I missed, and I'm glad that I did. Whatever is for me is for me. Whatever is for you, is for you.

Wishing you peace, love, and contentment

Felicia Jackson: How a Mother Leaned into her personal tragedy and created a life saving tool for the masses
Nothing motivates a mother into action more than when her child is in danger, and her maternal superpowers are being held back by sheer panic. With a medical background, recent CPR training certification and a firm belief of taking care of others, Felicia couldn’t imagine that she would not be able to take care of her son in an emergency situation quickly. Unfortunately, two-year-old Markel laid helpless as he was rendered unconscious on the side of the road while his mother grew hysterical and in tears. Unable to breathe and communicate his life-threatening situation, Felicia’s husband took the leadership role and performed CPR which saved Markel’s life and dislodged the piece of candy that he was unable to swallow.

BLACK GIRL VENTURES: Through building community, I change the world. I do this for the cause, the culture, and the coins.
