How do you identify an expert?

Not long ago, I found myself in a perplexing conversation.  Actually, it was a one-way conversation with the speaker declaring they were an expert because of the amount of income they had created.  This point stopped me in my tracks and made me wonder.

I wondered about artists who create beautiful, soul-inspired art yet do not sell a single piece.  Are they still considered artists?  Does a writer who pens pages and pages of creative writing deserve the name of author?

The dictionary defines an expert as, "a person who has a comprehensive and authoritative knowledge of or skill in a particular area."  There is no reference to income.

The focus is on the meaning of comprehensive and authoritative.  If you are fully versed, a life-long learner, and trusted to share on a particular skill or topic, you may be considered an expert.

When you share with passion, in the spirit of creating a movement, you share as an expert.

I invite you to define the are on which you wish to be known as an expert, continue to hone your skills, create an environment of trust and take the lead in your movement.
