Dear Friend,

As I sit typing at my desk (and as you read this email), it might feel like we’re sitting still, but we’re actually hurtling through space at 67,000 miles per hour. That’s thirty-seven times faster than a speeding bullet.

Now let’s talk about where we’re going spiritually.

Considering the horrific trajectory of our culture, it’s clear that we’re moving away from the light of God’s presence at an astonishing speed. Our culture is obsessed with “the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the pride of life,” and every day we’re tempted to join it as it plunges into ever-greater spiritual darkness.

The apostle John said it perfectly. “The world is passing away.”

This is why I believe that our 2023 Annual Conference is vitally needed. In our conference trailer, Steve Gallagher said it this way: “I don’t believe I am overstating it to say that God is calling us to a life that is immersed in His presence; a life that is saturated in His Word; a life that is devoted to meeting the needs of His people. This is the life the Lord meant for you and me to live. This is the life that is built for eternity. This is the life that will not pass away.”

It’s so important that we set aside those special times when we can gather in the powerful presence of God for heartfelt worship, anointed preaching, and genuine fellowship. But above all, we need to be reminded to separate ourselves from this world’s system and to consecrate ourselves to living out the will of God.
