SPEAKERS

Richard Wilson, Executive Director, Intercontinental Trust Ltd

Richard Wilson is an Executive Director of Intercontinental Trust Ltd. A Trust and Estate
Practitioner (TEP), Richard heads the Trust and Private Clients division of
Intercontinental Trust.

Richard has over 15 years of experience in the global business sector in Mauritius and has
been advising high net worth individuals on asset protection and wealth planning
structures. Richard has also advised large corporates in the setting up of ESOP trusts.
Prior to joining the Mauritius Global Business sector, Richard has worked extensively in
the banking and finance industry in the United Kingdom, Australia, Hong Kong and
Singapore.

Richard holds a Bachelor of Arts in History, Economics and Business law from the
University of Stirling in Scotland and is a member of the Society of Trust and Estate
professionals and of the International Tax planning Association.

Willem Du Preez, Vice President, Intercontinental Trust Ltd

Willem du Preez is the Vice-President of Intercontinental Trust Ltd in South Africa
primarily focusing on assisting, South African Clients with their requirements for global
expansion. Willem is an experienced consultant assisting companies with their expansion into Africa, providing assistance with the implementation of the company’s strategic objectives. This includes but is not limited to providing input into business strategy and structuring, incorporating and maintaining corporate structures throughout globally, compliance with tax and legal requirements and managing business risk.

He has experience in the core aspects of starting, operating and maintaining business in
Africa and helps clients to find sustainable solutions to the challenges that are usually
encountered when venturing into a new business territory, particularly in Africa. He is a
Chartered Accountant (South Africa), Registered Auditor (South Africa) and a member of
the Institute of Directors of South Africa (IODSA). Willem was previously the Head of Risk Advisory Services; comprising Internal Audit, Risk and Governance and forensic services at BDO, the world’s 5th largest Audit and advisory firm.

Willem holds an Advanced Diploma in International Taxation from the Thomas Jefferson
School of Law in association with the International Institute for Tax and Finance.

Richard Haller, Managing Director, Pam Golding Properties Mauritius

Richard joined the Pam Golding Property Group in 2004 after working for Goldman Sachs Investment Bank in London. For over 10 years Richard has been involved in driving the International operations of the group, with a specialised focus on launching residential real-estate developments in Southern Africa and the Indian Ocean Islands. He has also been responsible for the operations and general management of traditional real-estate businesses (residential sales and letting markets) in these areas. 

With the change in legislation in Mauritius in 2004 that allowed foreigners to purchase real-estate on the Island and qualify for permanent residency, Richards was involved in the successful launch of the first ever IRS development, Tamarina Golf and Beach estate. Within the past 5 years, his attention has been shifted to the noticeable opportunities in the Mauritius real-estate market where he has been actively involved in the successful launch of over 20 new real-estate projects as well as the general management of the Pam Golding Properties operation on the Island. Most recently, Richard played an integral role in the successful launch of the prestigious Mont Choisy Le Parc Golf and Beach Estate – the only golf and beach estate in Grand Baie with over USD200 million since March 2013. He will be relocating to Mauritius with his family next year to focus even more of his attention on the Pam Golding operation.

Richard holds an MBA from the University of Cape Town, Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Stellenbosch and a diploma in Real-Estate Development from Cape Town Technical University.
