Covid-19 Updates @ 12 June 2020
Mauritius, like the rest of world, has undoubtedly lived the most challenging time of its history ever since the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic. But for the past 47 days, we have been seeing light at the end of the tunnel for no new Covid-19 cases have been reported, except for a handful of imported cases relating to returning residents who were placed in quarantine since having set foot on the island.

As such, the government has decided to move a step further on its de-confinement strategy and effective as from 15 June 2020, all beaches and other public areas (cinema halls, gyms, night clubs and markets etc.) will be open to public access and social gatherings, except for horse racing, will be allowed to resume. Also, it has been decided that all schools and tertiary education institutions will resume on 1st July (previously the date was set for 1st August). However, people will be required to wear masks in public areas and are being encouraged to keep social distancing as far as possible.

No decisions have been taken yet by the government with regards to the re-opening of the Mauritian borders – however, the situation is being carefully assessed and the decision in relation to same will be communicated at a later stage.

ITL: Beginning of a New Normal

As previously communicated, more than 90% of our active workforce has been connecting on our work-from-home infrastructure since the beginning of the lockdown in Mauritius and this has ensured continuity in our service level.

Now that the country is in an advanced stage of de-confinement, ITL Management has decided to resume physical office operations on a rotational basis. Our workforce has been split in 2 distinct teams and each team will be requested to have physical presence at the office on a weekly rotational basis until further notice. ITL Management firmly believes that the health and wellbeing of its employees should remain a priority in these uncertain times and that a gradual shift to office work-life will help mitigate the risk of cross-contamination in case of a second wave of infection.

We will endeavor to keep our valued clients posted about the situation in Mauritius but should you have any concerns or queries, please do not hesitate to get in touch with your usual contact person or write us on info@intercontinentaltrust.com
