✌️In Mauritius, we celebrate Mother’s Day on the last Sunday of May. It’s a cherished occasion filled with flowers, home-cooked meals, thoughtful gifts, and emotional family moments. In schools and workplaces, it’s not unusual to see handmade cards, WhatsApp greetings, or even heartfelt poems dedicated to mums.
🌸 Mother’s Day is celebrated in over 50 countries, though the date and traditions vary. In the United States, it’s held on the second Sunday of May, inspired by Anna Jarvis, who wanted to honour her own mother and promote peace. In Thailand, the celebration is held on 12 August, in honour of the Queen Mother. Meanwhile, in Ethiopia, the occasion forms part of a multi-day autumn festival with singing and feasting. 🎶🍲
💕Regardless of when or how it’s celebrated, the message is universal: mothers matter — and they deserve to be recognised, appreciated, and spoiled every now and then. 💕🎁 |
