B&B        ROOMS        TO DO        BLOG        BOOK NOW

¡Hola Friend!

In the last newsletters, you already got to know quite a lot about Carsten and myself, Yvonne. But where would we be without all the hard-working people behind the scenes? They have our backs to ensure that we can devote ourselves to you in the best possible way. Well, and for marketing, bookkeeping, and Data Protection Rules - the more annoying tasks unfortunately also need to get done 🙂.

Sofía - our room fairy

Sofía is originally from a small village near Cali in Colombia. However, she swears stone and soul that she has nothing to do with the evil Cali cartel. Nowadays she operates her "business" from Turre, our next-door village. She is constantly equipped with her Hoover and Co. as well as with her mobile phone - typically Latin. With her warm, positive attitude and her great laugh, she is an enrichment to all of us. She also tirelessly makes sure that your room is not only clean and tidy but also smells good every day.

There's a human touch at Cortijo El Sarmiento

Sure, every hotel description states that the guests are the focus of all attention. That's true for us as well, but we don't think it needs to be highlighted as such in a business like ours. It's common sense, isn't it?

What is much more important to us is that EVERYONE here gets to be the center of attention. Without our lovely Sofía, the rooms would certainly not be as tidy, and without our dedicated Mamina, the garden would not be as pretty. Plus, my parents always help out where help is needed. Obviously, without you we would all be redundant - so a big THANK YOU from us!

Four rooms to fall in love with

Four of our rooms are located in a beautiful courtyard around a lovely fountain. Two old trees provide shade while you relax reading a book or writing postcards on your terrace. The latter, by the way, are free of charge.

Should you want to impress the ones back home with pictures - high-speed WiFi is available everywhere on our premises.

Almería: Vegetable Garden of Europe

Almería is considered the vegetable garden of Europe. We produce tomatoes, peppers, aubergines, courgettes, melons, citrus fruits of all kinds, berries, cabbage in all varieties and so much more. Most farms, even the big ones, are still family-run and an increasing number of them are now going organic. That's a huge advantage for us, as we can have the best produce locally, fresh, at any time. In turn, you benefit from this at breakfast and dinner. Look forward to some amazing flavours!

He who can enjoy no longer drinks wine, but tastes secrets

This quote by Salvador Dalí was the spark that led us to offer regular wine tastings. Once a week, we organise a tasting session, trying whatever I feel would be worth for you to try. My preferences are quite diverse, but of course, only Spanish wines will make it onto our table. I'm also happy to take on the Sherry challenge because that's where most people have prejudices and a great lack of knowledge. Of course, local wines also play a major role in my tastings. But Cava, Rioja, etc. are equally well represented 😉.

Here's a practical topic: rental cars 🙈

The rental car - a constant worry. So often, our guests have been pushed to pay additional fees at the airport, even though there was no need to do so according to the contract. Luckily, our neighbour owns a car rental company. If you fly in via Almería, Alicante, or Murcia airport, they not only offer good prices but also great service. And above all, no hidden extra charges! We hold the current price lists for both the high season and the low season 2023 ready for you.

Sunny regards from Mojácar & ¡hasta pronto!
