Church Awareness Project

Dear Friend,

We’re so excited about all the new participants who have joined the Church Awareness Project! They will receive a wealth of materials to help their churches and faith communities speak on abortion in a compassionate and truthful way; open people’s eyes to the truth about abortion (such as that most abortions are unwanted or coerced, not freely chosen); and minister to women, men and families affected by these issues.

If you haven’t already done so, be sure to sign up for our Church Awareness Project email list so that you can stay up to date and get free resources to share with your pastor and other leaders in your church or faith community.

Many of our resources and ideas are very simple, but they can make a big difference. Here are 5 things you can do, whether you have a lot of time or just a little, to help educate and encourage people in your church.

1. Invite your pastor and other church leaders to join the Church Awareness Project by sending them a personalized copy of our Church Leader’s Letter. Many pastors don’t understand or speak out on issues related to abortion and as a result, many in our churches are left hurting and alone. Educating and involving church leaders is crucial to fostering advocacy, support and healing in our churches.

You can also send a text, email or social media message to your pastor with a link to our sign up page, and invite him or her to join the Church Awareness Project.

2. Invite a speaker from a local pregnancy resource center or post-abortion healing ministry to speak to your church, ministry or small group. You could also invite a woman or man who has been involved in an abortion to share his or her story. Contact your local pregnancy resource center, post-abortion ministry or pro-life group for information about possible speakers.

3. Pray for those affected by these issues and invite others to do so as well. Use our prayer intentions at your worship service and share them with others. Consider joining others in a day of prayer and fasting for unborn children and the women, men and families who have been affected.

4. Have resources on hand for those in need of practical help, hope, healing or encouragement. Publish or post contact information for local pregnancy centers and other organizations who can help those being encouraged, pushed or coerced to abort, as well as organizations that offer counseling after abortion. Ask your church office to keep a copy of our Help & Healing Guide on hand, as well as contact information for the Center Against Forced Abortions, which can assist teens or women being coerced into unwanted abortions.

5. Download and post one of our educational ads or flyers on a bulletin board in your church or stuff copies inside your church bulletin or newsletter. (Be sure to get permission and follow appropriate guidelines for any outside posting).
