Enter 1647 in a dark 19th-century barn and witness the witch trials that European colonists experienced through their own words, as well as the darkness that pervaded their everyday lives. Hear about superstitions of witchcraft and the belief that danger—both physical and supernatural—was all around. Not for children under 10.

Fairfield Museum at Fairfield's Old Burying Ground

You’ll feel your spine shiver, listening to true ghost stories and local folklore, as night descends and the dry leaves rustle in the trees. Prepare to be greeted by Eunice Burr, Samuel Smedley, and Goody Knapp, who was executed for witchcraft in 1653, while discovering long-buried legends that have haunted Fairfield for nearly 400 years.

It's the live return of the annual 'Illuminating the Past' Lantern Tour. Creep through the cemetery with your lantern-wielding guide and discover Westport’s most notable dearly-departed residents. Meet at the cemetery for ghastly goodies before starting your ghostly journey. This family-friendly tour is recommended for audiences 7 years and older. Costumes encouraged.

Take a trip back to Wilton’s colonial past. Join Histoury on a bus tour of the chapels, schools, taverns, and general stores that served as centers of 18th and 19th century life in rural hamlets within the town. The tour will end with a reception at the Wilton Historical Society. Tickets include a donation to the Wilton Historical Society. Very limited space.
