OPENING RECEPTION FOR CONSTANCE KIERMAIER'S "ONWARD"

ArtWorks Gallery on the Green, Norwalk

This exhibit includes recent work, selections from the past, and small works by artists that Constance has mentored. A graduate of the Yale School of Fine Arts, Constance is a box maker, printmaker, painter, and teacher. She is the recipient of many awards including the Faber Birren Award for Distinctive and Creative Expression with Color.

Organized by the Carriage Barn Arts Center and the New Canaan Chamber of Commerce, this exhibition is an opportunity for artists and local businesses in the community to celebrate New Canaan’s vibrant business district and the arts. The Art Stroll will also include an opening reception at the Handwright Gallery for an exhibit by Cultural Alliance member Sally Frank, "Impressions,” that includes her recent photopolymer etchings and woodcuts - through June 24th.

This annual Spring fundraiser celebrates the town’s history and offers an opportunity to support the Museum. Participate in two ways: by creating a painting to be sold for the museum’s benefit, and by attending the party fundraiser that will showcase paintings of Darien doors by artist Kate Muir, as well as local artists. Guests will enjoy catering by Carolyn’s Absolutely Fabulous Events and music by Butch Taylor and Scott Lebish.

14TH BIENNIAL INT'L MINIATURE PRINT OPENING EXHIBITION RECEPTION

NANCY MOORE'S "WOMEN TELLING STORIES" EXHIBIT RECEPTION

The Westport Library

Now on view in the Sheffer Gallery, take in Nancy's paintings on large slices of archival paper, working mainly with watercolor and also with graphite, gouache, metallic paint, colored pencil, and wax crayon. Themes include transformation, ethnography, design, shape-shifting, gender identity, fashion, and creation myth. Includes an artist talk with CAFC member Miggs Burroughs at 3 pm.

'WOMEN OF THE WESTPORT PUBLIC ART COLLECTIONS" LECTURE

This lecture by Ive Covaci and Kathleen Motes Bennewitz will explore selected works on display in the exhibit "In Their Element(s): Women Artists Across Media," showcasing the role of women as artists and caretakers in the development and growth of the Westport Public Art Collections , from the 1960s to today. WestPAC encompasses nearly 2,000 artworks in a range of media which are displayed in public schools and municipal buildings throughout Westport.

Participate in a project presented in partnership with Westport Pride. If you are an LGBTQ Westport area resident and you’d like your story to be heard, you are invited to participate in this oral history project. Book a time slot for a video or in-person interview and add to the narratives that have been conspicuously absent from community archives.
