Bridgeport’s Mary & Eliza Freeman Center for History and Community, whose 1848 Freeman Houses – the oldest surviving homes built by African Americans in Connecticut - were recently named by The National Trust as one of the “11 Most Endangered Historic Places” in the country, has $600,000 of preservation funding to be matched.
