ART ON BROAD STREET
DEADLINE: MAY 15

The Bridgeport Public Art Fund’s initial focus — ART on Broad Street — intends to support projects on the Broad Street corridor from the Painted Steps to the University of Bridgeport and Seaside Park in the South End. The goal of creating this mile-long arts corridor is to enliven the built-form, catalyze community engagement, celebrate Bridgeport’s rich history and culture, strengthen place-making, and support an artful pathway connecting the South End to the Downtown area.

As part of ART on Broad Street, The Bridgeport Public Art Fund is partnering with the Read’s Artspace Building to host the inaugural commissioned artwork to beautify the Broad Street corridor. There are two opportunities:

MURAL INSTALLATION

The fund will commission a painted wall mural on the corner of Broad St and Cannon of the Read’s Building not to exceed 8 ft by 10ft in size. For RFP, click here.

CANOPY INSTALLATION

The former main entry canopy steel framework will be a focal point on Broad Street for this project. Illuminated artworks, artistic lighting, or other creative ideas may be proposed as outlined in the specifications below. For RFP, click here.

RAILROAD UNDERPASSES
DEADLINE: MAY 26

The City of Bridgeport’s Office of Planning & Economic Development (OPED) is making a call out to all artists. OPED seeks proposals from entities capable of artistically reinventing our railroad underpasses as places of art through any variety of media, between South Avenue and Broad Street along the railroad pathways of Bridgeport. These pieces of artwork will continue a series of place-making landmarks for pedestrians within their respective neighborhoods. For more information, see Call to Artists found here.
