This was the first documentary to explore the role of photography in shaping the identity, aspirations and social emergence of African Americans. Bringing to light the hidden and unknown images shot by both professional and vernacular African American photographers, the film opens a window into lives, experiences and perspectives of black families that is absent from the traditional historical canon. Giving Day is our region's biggest philanthropic event of the year - a 24-hour online giving marathon designed to amplify the amazing work of our nonprofit community, boost staff and volunteer skills that can be used beyond Giving Day, and encourage important giving to your missions. Beginning at 12:00 am on the morning of February 28, a $1,000 prize will be awarded to the first ten nonprofits who are the first to receive 25 unique donations of $25 or more.
