Larsen Trails Hiking Challenge

CT Audubon Society Center at Fairfield

First in series of four Wednesday morning hikes. Ready to add some “spring” in your step? With the increasing chorus of birdsong and peepers welcoming the season, this also is an ideal time to get out and moving with some fresh air and exercise. Each Wednesday morning hike will explore a different set of trails to view the diverse and varied habitats of the Larsen Wildlife Sanctuary. You can sign up for a single class, or enroll in the series.
Workshop Wednesdays: Sketch Night with Yedi Fresh and Rich Smith

First in a series of three workshops: Drawing a Character’s Face. Participants will engage in a drawing lesson, activity and game, free draw with cartoons, and end with time to share their work and win a raffle (instructors sketch). The goal of the session is to gain experience and build a deeper level of understanding of drawing, as well as gain more skills. More...

Painting the Head with Acrylics: Eddie Nino

First of four Saturday workshops. Addresses ideas on portrait composition, likeness, and paint quality, as well as discussing how to simplify and maximize the use of photos. Eddie Nino studied for more than 10 years in New York City at the Art Students League with Michael Grimaldi and Harvey Dinnerstein. More...

April Recess Art Workshops

MoCA Westport
 
No big plans for April Recess? Join MoCA Westport for three hours of hands-on art activities for ages 3-13 in a multitude of mediums throughout the week. Offering morning (9-12pm) and afternoon (1-4pm) sessions from April 12-16. Participants are encouraged to wear a smock and to bring a labeled nut-free snack and water bottle. All participants and staff will undergo a temperature check upon arrival and be required to wear a mask inside the facility. More... 
Spring Break Nature Camp

What is nature up to this time of year? Join us for our springtime camp where we'll find the answers while welcoming back the animals and plants that have been hiding all winter! Together with our teacher naturalists, campers will investigate the Larsen Wildlife Sanctuary to look for evidence of spring’s arrival. This outdoor program is for grades K through 5, and includes games, live animals, crafts, log rolling and more. Japanese Woodblock: Carving, Printing, and Methods

In this three part demonstration, Kevin Frances will be showing how to create a woodblock print, printed in the Japanese style with water-based inks. After each demo, Kevin will be sharing images to help with participant notes , and will be available for questions and troubleshooting via email. More... 
April Vacation Youth Workshops

April 13-15
Fairfield Museum & History Center
 
Inviting children ages 8-12 to explore fashion, weaving and book making. Discover different arts and crafts techniques while using museum objects as inspiration. All supplies are included. Children must wear masks and maintain social distancing. Temperatures will be checked upon arrival. More...
