Come experience the best art, music, performance, and culinary creations Bridgeport has to offer this weekend at the 11th Annual Bridgeport Art Trail (BAT), featuring more than 200 artists and 40 venues.   This is just a selection from the feast of offerings. For a complete guide:  

Opening Party

Thurs. Nov. 7, 6pm
Read's ArtSpace

Thursday night kicks off with events downtown, including the giant Artists' Party at the Ground Floor Gallery at Read's ArtSpace from 6-10 pm with live music featuring John Torres, Scott Packham, Fuzz Sangiovanni, Rick Reyes and more, local food and brews, and the annual Artists Choose Artists exhibit. A new exhibit of sculpture by Joseph Saccio also opens at the Housatonic Museum of Art from 5-7 pm. And stop by City Lights Vintage until 7 pm for an eclectic selection of antiques and collectibles. Her Dragons Fly

An opening reception for a solo show by painter and poet Shanna Melton. The exhibition is a visual narrative about learning that wisdom comes when we claim our peace. Her Dragons Fly celebrates our ancestors, it welcomes us to stand in the midst of their energy, and helps us navigate the soulful meaning of our lives. More...

Bijou Theatre

WPKN 85.9FM co-hosts a showcase featuring the latest music videos of local musicians Fuzz San Giovanni and Chris Cavaliere, as well as of Vaughn Williams’ The Lark Ascending, as played by the Greater Bridgeport Symphony in the shuttered Palace Theatre. From 9pm, Lyrical Voices, a legendary night of poetry hosted by poet Shanna Melton. More...

Open Studios: Come Collect and Connect

American Fabrics Arts Building

The family friendly event showcases more than 24 artists and allows the public to CONNECT with the artists/artisans and COLLECT their work. Meet painters, sculptors, quilt makers, ceramic artists, printmakers, installation artists, photographers, Interior Designers, and more. Featured events include:
  • a live fluid acrylic painting demonstration
  • print your own Olde American Proverb poster 
  • video screenings of local, national and international artists studio and sample sales 
  • WPKN-curated music plus a 50 Year Archive Record Sale
  • live music throughout the building
  • an Art Raffle (proceeds to The Bridgeport Rescue Mission (BRM). Donations of food and coats also accepted for BRM

A PechaKucha is a tasty storytelling feast! Hear authentic, possibly unexpected personal stories. Speakers include: Luciana McClure, Cris Dam, Iyaba Ibo Mandingo, Shanna Melton, Janet Luongo and Miggs Burroughs. This Sunday evening gathering, which also serves as a unique closing party of the BAT weekend, celebrates creativity and leadership in the arts.  More...
