Hello Miracle Family,
One reason forgiveness can feel difficult is that you may think it requires contact.
You may think forgiveness means you have to call them, explain yourself, reopen the conversation, let them back into your life, or pretend the relationship is the same. But forgiveness is not a phone call. It is not a reunion. It is not forcing yourself back into a form that your peace is not guiding you to choose.
This week’s class, “How to Find Inner Peace: Let Go of Anger and Grievances | A Course in Miracles W-72 ” focused on Workbook Lesson 72: “Holding grievances is an attack on God’s plan for salvation.”
The key is the grievance. A grievance is where your mind says, “If this were different, I’d be happy.” If they apologized, I’d be happy. If they understood me, I’d be peaceful. If they changed, I could relax.
That is why holding the grievance is the attack. It keeps your peace tied to what another person does or does not do.
So this week, ask yourself:
Am I confusing forgiveness with contact?
Lesson 72 is about releasing the grievance in the mind. It is not saying you must force a phone call, a reunion, or a conversation before peace is possible.
What am I still believing they must do before I can have peace?
This question shows you where the grievance is active. It reveals where you are still making your happiness depend on an apology, an explanation, or a change in someone else.
Can I release the attack before I know what comes next?
You do not have to know the outer form yet. You can begin by becoming willing to stop using the grievance against your own peace.
Let peace decide the form.
Maybe you speak. Maybe you do not. Maybe the relationship changes. Maybe it does not. But you do not have to keep attacking yourself with a grievance while you wait for the world to change.
You don’t have to call them to forgive them.
You are simply invited to stop using them as the reason you cannot be free.
Love,
Earl
