Hello Miracle Family,
What labels have become so familiar that you've started believing they define you?
Some labels make us feel proud. Others still sting years after they were spoken. We wear labels about our bodies, our careers, our relationships, our beliefs, our successes, and our failures. Over time, what began as simple descriptions can quietly become the way we define ourselves.
That's exactly what Lesson 184 of A Course in Miracles invites us to question. It begins with the simple statement, "You live by symbols." We give names to everything we see, and those names make everything appear separate. The same thing happens when we label ourselves. Labels may help us navigate the world, but they were never meant to define our Identity.
The beautiful message of Lesson 184 is that "The Name of God is my inheritance." Your true Identity doesn't come from the world's labels. It comes from God. As a Child of God, you inherit all that God is—Love, peace, joy, freedom, and limitless worth. You don't have to earn your value. You were created worthy, and nothing the world has called you can change what God created.
Let's Practice:
For the next hour, simply notice how often your mind labels what it sees.
Notice when you label a person.
Notice when you label a situation.
Notice when you label yourself.
You don't need to judge the labels or make them disappear. Just become aware of them.
Then ask yourself one gentle question:
"What would I see if I didn't immediately put a label on this?"
You may discover that beneath every label is an opportunity to experience greater peace, greater compassion, and a deeper sense of unity.
