Hello Miracle Family,
Have you ever thought about the spiritual practice of not knowing? A certain kind of discomfort comes up when you don't know what something means, what will happen, or what you are supposed to do next.
The ego does not like that at all. It wants an answer. It wants certainty. It wants to explain the problem, explain the people involved, predict what is coming, and decide what has to happen before you can be peaceful.
But A Course in Miracles gives you a very different instruction in Workbook Lesson 155: “I will step back and let Him lead the way.”
The Rush to Interpret
Notice how fast the mind assigns meaning. Something happens, and right away you think you know what it means. Somebody says something, and you think you know why they said it. A situation changes, and your mind is already three scenes ahead.
But your interpretation is not necessarily the truth.
Workbook Lesson 2 reminds you that you have given what you see the meaning it has for you. So when you feel completely certain about what something means, that may be the perfect time to get curious instead.
You can simply say, “Maybe I do not know what this means.”
You are not giving up. You are making some room.
Guidance Does Not Need Your Conclusion
Sometimes you ask Spirit for help, but you have already decided what the help is supposed to look like. “Help me with this” can secretly mean, “Please make this turn out the way I already decided it should.” That is still control.
Stepping back means you are willing to let another perception come before you know what it will be. You do not have to force clarity, come up with the spiritual answer, or talk yourself into feeling better.
You can stop insisting that your current interpretation is the final word.
Practice: Make Room for Another Perception
The next time you feel anxious, angry, or very sure that you know exactly what is happening, try this:
1. Name your interpretation. Ask yourself: What have I decided this situation means? Lesson 2 brings you back to the fact that you are giving what you see its meaning.
2. Name your conclusion. What have you already decided must happen next? Lesson 155 describes the mistake of letting illusion walk ahead of truth. Notice where your conclusion is already trying to lead the way.
3. Release certainty. Say: “I may be mistaken about what this means.” You do not have to replace your interpretation yet. Just stop gripping it so tightly.
4. Ask for help. Say: “Give me another way to look at this.” Lesson 155 points you toward letting illusion fall behind so truth can stand in front.
5. Do not rush to fill the silence. Let there be a little space. Lesson 155 gives you the image of a serene forehead and quiet eyes. You do not have to manufacture the answer. The point is not to get the right answer as fast as possible.
The practice is becoming willing not to know long enough for guidance to enter.
Let Spirit Reveal Your Next Step
You do not need the whole path laid out in front of you. You only need enough willingness to stop letting your old interpretation lead every step.
Sometimes the deepest spiritual practice is not figuring it out. It is being quiet enough to notice that another way may already be there.
If you're looking for ways to dive deeper, I'm always available for clarity sessions and coaching/mentorship. Now, I have two new astrology offerings that also may help you tune in deeper to guidance:
A 90-minute relationship compatibility session using astrology and numerology to explore communication, intimacy, conflict patterns, strengths, and challenges. Both people can participate, ask questions, and leave with practical guidance for greater understanding.
Understanding Your Child — Astrology & Numerology is a 90-minute session exploring your child’s temperament, emotional needs, communication and learning style, strengths, sensitivities, and unique gifts. You’ll leave with compassionate insight and practical guidance to support your child more effectively.
I'm looking forward to connecting with you this weekend. Remember -- we're in LIVE dialogue tomorrow (Sept 12) at 10 a.m. MT.
In deep appreciation,
Earl
