Hello Miracle Family,
You say you want peace.
But do you want peace more than you want to be right?
Do you want peace more than you want the apology, the explanation, the changed behavior, or the proof that somebody did you wrong?
That is where the real work begins. ACIM Workbook Lesson 98 says, “I will accept my part in God’s plan for salvation.” Salvation means waking up from fear, guilt, and separation. It means remembering who you really are.
But you cannot accept peace while keeping one hand wrapped around the grievance.
The ego says, “Hold on to this. It proves what happened. It protects you. It keeps them from getting away with it.”
So you keep reviewing the story. You keep waiting for the other person to change. You keep telling yourself:
“I’ll be peaceful when they apologize.”
“I’ll relax when the money comes.”
“I’ll be happy when this situation is over.”
That is the ego’s plan: keep you searching forever.
What Are You Using the Pain For?
The question is not whether something painful happened. The question is what you are using it for now.
Does the pain give you an identity?
Does the grievance give you permission not to choose again?
Does being upset make you feel justified, protected, or in control?
That is not a reason to judge yourself. It is a reason to be honest.
Choosing peace does not mean pretending somebody is dependable when they are not. It does not mean remaining where you are mistreated. It does not mean smiling while somebody walks all over you and calling it spiritual.
You can set a boundary without hatred.
You can leave without an attack.
You can remember what happened without making it your identity.
Your part in God’s plan is not to force anybody else to change. Your part is to recognize the voice you are listening to.
The ego says, “Protect the pain.”
Love says, “You do not need the pain to protect you.”
Your Practice for the Week
Each time you feel upset, pause and complete this sentence:
“I believe I cannot have peace until __________________ changes.”
Then ask:
“What do I believe this grievance is giving me?”
Do not force yourself to release it. Just tell the truth.
Finally, repeat:
“I am willing to accept peace before this situation changes.”
Practice this once a day for seven days. The answer may reveal the exact place where salvation is asking you to remember who you really are.
