APPLICATIONS ARE OPEN!

The Teaching Residents @ Teachers College program is actively recruiting the new cohort for the spring 2021 semester. Applications Due on November, 1st. For more information, join our office hours or click here to learn more about our unique Teacher Residency Program.


Office Hours

  • Mondays: 10:00-11:00am

  • Tuesdays: 4:00-5:00pm

  • Thursdays: 5:30-6:30pm

Professional Learning

In a panel led by veteran journalist Samuel Fromartz, join author Raj Patel, farm activist Jim Goodman, and agricultural scholar Garrett Graddy-Lovelace for a conversation about why the policy proposed in the Green New Deal is essential for the future of food.

Tickets are free but registration is required.

Week of October 5th

Hundreds of teachers from 29 states and the District of Columbia have signed up to participate in Teach Central America Week so far.

We have added several new resources for teaching about Central America to our website, including new books and teaching guides appropriate for use with elementary students.

If you haven't already, we encourage you to sign up for Teach Central America Week. Then share your stories about how you teach about Central America October 5-11 and all year long.

Roberto Lovato Author Talk

October 6 at 5pm ET / 4pm CT / 2pm PT

Join Salvadoran American journalist Roberto Lovato, author of the new book Unforgetting: A Memoir of Family, Migration, Gangs, and Revolution in the Americas, for a virtual book talk. This event will take place during Teach Central America Week on October 6, 2020, from 5:00PM-6:30PM EST via Zoom and is hosted by Teaching for Change and the Department of Spanish and Portuguese at the University of Maryland, College Park.

The event will be moderated by Teach Central America advisor, Ana Patricia Rodríguez, Associate Professor at the University of Maryland School of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures. - Click here to register

Wellness

Come fill your cup with a variety of wellness offerings this year!

  • Beginning Friday, Sept. 18th - Alumna, Melida Maldonado-Peréz, will lead you through monthly "Free Friday Morning" Restorative Yoga sessions

  • Every Monday and Wednesday - Success In Motion, will continue to offer Monday Mindfulness meditation sessions and Wellness Wednesday cardio sessions, throughout the school year.

All workshops are free and open to all education professionals
