Subject: Thank You From "DriverX" HQ

WHAT A FANTASTIC, AMAZING NIGHT IN HOUSTON!

Dear Friends,

I wanted to thank you all for coming out to the Houston screening of DriverX last month. It was such a thrill to screen the film for all of you and then to catch up with most of you, (it was a little frustrating to not catch up with all of you, but the night went by so fast). So much fun; so gratifying.

I just wanted to send a quick email to let you know that I am adding you to the DriverX Mailing List and to ask for a little favor. First, because you're now on the DriverX Mailing List, that means from time to time you will get an email from me (from my DriverX email address - driverxmovie@gmail.com) with the latest news on the film--where we might be playing, when we will be available on what platforms, etc. Trust me, you won't get inundated with DriverX emails. But if you ever decide you don't want to be on the list, it's very easy to unsubscribe and feel free to do that. I promise I won't get upset, (well, I would get upset, but I probably won't know...).

Now the favor...as you might imagine, a little film like mine has a hard time cutting through the noise. Every film you've ever seen at a movie theater and most films you've seen online have spent millions of dollars to get your attention. My distributor spent exactly $0 to get your attention. I spent a little money, and then some amazing friends spent their time helping to get the word out, and VOILA! We sold out a theater.

It would be so amazing if you could help me let others know about the film and no, I'm not going to ask you to spend millions of dollars. There's actually a free and easy way you can help spread the word. There are a number of websites that rate the film and high ratings attract others to the movie. If you don't ever rate films on these sites, you'll be asked to create an account, which should only take you a minute or so, but otherwise the process is as fast as clicking a button. Below is a list of some of the most important rating sites (and the links will take you directly to our pages). It would mean so much to me and Patrick and the rest of the DriverX Team if you could take five minutes and speak your truth to the world! (And if you didn't like the film, well, just disregard this request!).
  • ROTTEN TOMATOES - You can quickly rate it or even better, write a sentence or two with your thoughts.
  • IMDB - Again, you can quickly rate, and also write a review. IMDB has a funky algorithm that tries to detect people manipulating the rating. The algorithm throws out a lot of 10's, so if you really liked the movie, give it a 9.
  • AMAZON - This one is super-important, since it's at the point of sale for anyone wanting to watch the movie on Amazon. Most of you probably already have an Amazon account, so this one will take just a sec.
  • ITUNES - Again, really important for the reasons above. And we have so few reviews on iTunes and Amazon that your (positive) review can really make a big difference!
And of course, there's old-fashioned word-of-mouth. I like to say, "We can't afford to advertise on Television; we rely on Tell-a-friend and Tell-a-neighbor." (Ok, I don't really like to say that because it's corny, but it does crack me up every time I write it).

All I can say about your help is THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!

Hoping to see many of you the next time I'm back in Houston. I really miss the place and all of you!

Best,
Mark
