"DRIVERX" NOW PLAYING IN SELECT THEATERS & ON DEMAND!

Dear DriverXers,

Well, Folks, our little baby bird is now out of the nest and taking wing in the world, (sorry, I think I'm messing up the metaphors here. Shouldn't it be some kind of car metaphor??). We opened the film in theaters in LA and NYC this past Friday (with an incredible Sneak Preview last Tuesday in New York), and had several special screening events over the weekend. We hope you made it to one of them.

If you didn't, and you live in LA, we have one more special night, which is tonight. We're calling it our No Budget Film School Night, and we're going to focus the after-screening Q&A on the micro-budget techniques we used to make the film. I've mentioned it before, but I've been teaching micro-budget filmmaking for over 13 years and my mentor, Peter Broderick, is going to lead the discussion. Patrick Fabian, Henry Barrial, Tanya Clarke and myself will be in attendance, so please come on down to beautiful Santa Monica!

NO BUDGET FILM SCHOOL SCREENING OF DRIVERX
Wednesday, Dec. 5th • 7:10pm
Laemmle Monica Film Center
1332 2nd Street, Santa Monica, CA 90401
Eye For Film Quote
We're just now starting to get reviews. Here's what some of the critics are saying:

“A terrific new feature film...a perceptive and surprisingly sharp comedy/drama."
- Diamonds In The Rough

"Funny and compelling...this is true independent filmmaking at its best.”
- KSDK St. Louis (NBC)

"Teems with details that feel lived-through. Its outlook--optimistic about human nature yet cynical about the times--lingers."
- The New York Times

“The acting throughout is excellent; it helps that Barrial isn’t playing Leonard’s predicament for cheap laughs or amped-up drama."
- The Los Angeles Times

"DriverX is a must-watch exploring the themes of feeling phased out by technology while simultaneously embracing it. There’s simply so much good stuff that’ll leave you thinking for days afterwards.”
- Fansided

"Patrick Fabian...is emphatically up to the task. His fantastic performance elevates an already excellent script."
- Nerdvana

"A must-see. Sometimes films just speak to you. If you’re a GenX-er like me then maybe the movie will speak to you too. There is so much truth in it."
- Mother of Movies

The film is playing in LA at the Laemmle Monica Film Center and in New York at the IFC Center, through this Thursday, Dec. 6th. Then it starts rolling out to several other cities in the coming weeks:

And of course, it's available now On Demand. Here are links to some of the popular platforms we're on:

Please, please, please, please, please...if you watch the film on a platform like iTunes or Amazon, where you can rate and review, and you like the film, please give us some love. This part is so crucial, especially as we start to fight the trolls online. I can't thank you enough for this kind of support!
MAKING OUR OWN NEWS

If you've seen the film and want to learn more about how it was made, I've written a couple of articles (with a couple more to come) that go deep into the process of our filmmaking.

The first is a long article for the popular filmmaking website No Film School, where I go into detail about how we shot the nighttime driving scenes, and much, much more.

And then I wrote a piece for IndieWire that details the long journey writer/director Henry Barrial made to get to DriverX. I originally called it From Sundance to Sundance Selects, and when you read it, you'll see why.

Finally, I'm on several filmmaking podcasts where I talk in depth about the film and how we made it:
I hope you get a chance to see the movie and of course I would love to see you at the theater if you're nearby one. Patrick and I will be attending the opening nights of some of these cities. And please, when you do see it, let me know what you think!

Best,
Mark
